Follow / UnFollow Me - Woteva!

So after not posting for four days because of my wee trip to Natal to be with my mum while she goes through serious surgery, I lost three followers.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not sitting here sobbing and wiping away the snot and tears with my sleeve or anythin'...

Its really not that important to me how many followers I have, who reads or listens to my drivel. It just  baffles me on why people intially decide to follow you (for some obscure reason) and why they finally stop following.  Most do eventually...

Listen, I've been blogging for nearly three years and I've seen many bloggers, readers and followers come and go...but it still makes me ponder it all.

Is it because my followers get bored?  Is because I say FUCK too much? Is it because Followers take offence to a particular post?  Is it because I don't post as regularly as they would like?  Is it because I post too much?

I know you can't please the masses all the time.  I certainly don't try too hard.

I'm just wondering...

What makes you "Follow" and ultimately '"UnFollow" a blogger?

I think people worry too much about followers... and that you shouldn't. Just write what you feel. Write for you.

If people follow and then quit following maybe you're just not their cuppa... so quit worrying.

Point blank......I don't connect with them. I find nothing interesting in what they write about.

In the beginning when I first started blogging, and didn't know much about it, I was following anyone who followed me. That's not to say that I only followed those who followed me first, but if I noticed that someone joined up with me, I felt obligated to reciprocate. Even if I didn't like their blog. Eventually, I started unfollowing the ones I just had no connection with. That's it. Plain and simple. If they want to unfollow me because I'm no longer following them, that's fine.

I would rather have a shorter following, and have a real connection with the rest.

I've never unfollowed a blog... and it takes one read of a good blog that makes me laugh, nod along or just that I admire their style or mission to make me click that follow button.

Since I already read too many blogs, a blog needs to make me think, laugh and nod along for me to start following.

But I rarely unfollow a blog, I'd have to be severely offended by a post or just bored out of my socks. I don't care a bit if the blogger updates several times a day or once every few weeks as long as it's interesting.

Take care and hope your mom recovers quickly!

Oh I really do not pay much attention to followers. Hec, some of them never comment. In fact, I follow 4 blogs only - 3 network type and Being Brazen's (because of the competitions) That's is! It's my blogroll that is the important part. And truly, it is the people that spend the time to comment that matters. Not the ones that clicked one button at one particular time that took 2 seconds.

i think matty hit it...it comes down to connections...i have quite a fewfollowers and they come and go...i tend to stick around those that interect with me...if i dont see you around then you either write really welt o keep my interest or i tend to move on...

I try to keep it Real with my following (those I follow). Sometimes you lose your interest in certain blogs (I have and I've unfollowed blogs).

I've lost more followers than many blogs will ever collect. Big Deal.

Absolutely L O V E the "Follow Me" image!

Funny thing, I've been "off" four days--or five? and gained 4 followers. I figured they were so gld to see me GONE, they decided to "follow".

Which IS sort of a joke...to have 200+ followers...and FIVE comments!!!

P.S. I'm still with you--as are MANY more! And: THANKS FOR FOLLOWING--grin!

I don't un-follow. I always drop in and read when I can. I love your posts, should comment more!! But I do always read. I worry when I don't do my normal funny that people will drop off, but I still do it because blogging is about what you are feeling in that moment in time, the followers I want know that and stay true. I get all confused when someone makes a post like "cow" and gets 152 comments...I put a lot of work in my posts and "cow" gets 152 replies!!!!! Not that they are not fine animals..wink

Love you, love your blog, here to stay!!

I agree with matty and brian. I follow because they follow me but if they don't interest me, I will probably stop following eventually.

I like the little community that has developed around my little blog.

I'm not sure I would unfollow someone. I might stop reading them, but I'm not sure I would actually hit the button. Maybe if they had really offended me.

Its interesting how everyone's opinion differs. Thanx for the comments guys!

If someone hasn't posted for over six months and I haven't heard from them, I generally assume that they have stopped blogging and unfollow.

I change me reading blog material a lot. I try to comment but I have over 150 blogs to read daily. You just don't get around to ready all those blogs on a daily basis.

THAT settles it--I will blog at LEAST once every five months! From this moment on...

Love the comments! Sign of a good blogger is often determined by their commenting public--followers!

Blessings...or wotevah!

I unfollow when I've been actively (leaving comments) on someone's blog and they haven't even followed me. I also get obsessed when I lose followers and try to figure out who it was, etc. Truth is, people may just be stopping their blogs and unfollowing everyone. It may not be because you say fuck. I like that about you.

I only follow blogs that interest me, though I have to say they are usually the ones that follow me. ;)

It is def b/c you say FUCK too much...LMAO! I love you. I lose followers on Twitter every single day but I gain followers every day too. Blogging is really about doing what you want and saying screw you to all. It requires a thick skin huh? Mom okay?

PS I tried to follow your blog on Networked Blogs and it said the blog doesn't exist!

I only unfollowed one blog...And it was because this person was stealing pics of other bloggers children and posting them as her own...I say maybe the people you lost stopped blogging??? Maybe...I usually read a few posts before I follow a blog...But sure there are a few that I stopped commenting on because I stopped relating to it for what ever reason...
