Today's Southafricanism is NêNê [pronounced neh] informal exclamation. It means "Really?" or "is that so?" or "don't you agree?" or "izit?". Often used dripping with sarcasm.
Used liberally by Afrikaans speakers for emphasis.
Usage: “I went to the shop,
nê, and I bought some milk, nê, and then I came home, nê…or
"That bakkie checks out lekker, nê?"
