Magical History Tour

Today is the last day of Paula's July Blog Challenge and today we blog about "One person from History you'd like to spend the day"

 Henry VIII

He was a Lord.

He was a King.

He was a ginger.

He was fat, really fat....ah, I'm sure he blames the good life of the rich and infamous.

Henry had The Balls to start his own church and his modus operande was to behead people who displeased him. A bit barbaric, but it takes big cahoonas  to behead everyone who calls you a fat fuck.  He loved to decorate his large frame with pretty baubles and spent a small fortune on embellishments.  He loves to party like the king-rock-star he was.

Who wouldn't want to spend a day with this bloke and get inside his head?

Adrenalin Adventure

July is almost done and dusted so, Paula asks what was your Best Holiday.

My best holiday would be our camping Adventure Trip to Sabie, Mpumalanga a couple of years ago.  Not only did we get to do cool once-in-a-lifestyle adventure stuff, but we got to do it as a family and with great friends.

We rode elephants, swung over the treetops, free fell 70 meters into a gorgeous valley, took the girls horse riding in the mountains, went rafting in the river rapids, went quad biking through citrus orchards.

Adrenalin filled holiday.  Just up my street.

A Smart Phone Gathers No Moss

Paula wants to know why we love our smarts phones so much.

Well, I recently dropped my HTC One X and shattered the screen.  Oh shite was I devastated.  I cried.  I actually cried....that's how much I adore my smart phone.

I could still use my phone with the cracked screen, but it wasn't the same.  I made an insurance claim to get the screen fixed, but after a month at the repair center, they let me know that it was beyond economical repair.  The insurance paid out and a new HTC One X Plus was ordered from the UK.

Now I'm back Instagraming like a MoFo, honing my Twiddiction and taking photos of everything and anything and PhotoShaking the lot of them.  I get my emails on my phone, I moderate comments on my blog, I watching YouTube and chat on WhatsApp.  I listen to internet radio, play Music and DropBox for work while getting regular weather updates.  I even have a flashlight!

What more could a girl want?  Any information at her fingertips.

My SmartPhone is an extension of my arm and I feel lost and disconnected without it.

What do you use your SmartPhone for?

Go By The Book

Paula's question for Day #25  for the July Blog Challenge is your favourite childhood book?

I never really read books when I was young.  I only started enjoying reading when I left high school and started working.

The only thing I read when I was little, was the Beano, Dandy and Twinkle weekly comics.

My mum used to take us to the local news agent to get our weekly 10p comics on a Friday.  It was an exciting day for us, because Mum would buy us doughnuts on the way home or a Lion bar.

Bonus.

My mum used to also get us the annuals for Christmas every year.  I remember reading the hard-cover annuals over and over.

Good Times.

What was your favourite childhood book?

Crush on You

Who was your childhood celebrity crush?

That's Today's Question for The July Blog Challenge over at Paula's Place.  Go link up.

Then
Now
My first crush was Ricky Schroder from Silver Spoons.

Oh, I thought he was so adorable, handsome and so dreamy.  Must've been those blue eyes and those dimples.

I didn't want to miss a single episode...I think it was one of the couple of times that I actually fancied a blonde bloke.  I'm usually a dark, rough-'n-ready kinda lass.

As a teenager my crush was Bono from U2.  I thought he was Sex on Legs.  It didn't hurt that he had a dreamy Irish accent and made brilliant music...I was smitten.

Who was your childhood crush?

Pillow Talk

The July Blog Challenge is quickly coming to a close.

It's Day 23 and today's topic is your favourite part of the day.

My favourite part of the day is when I get into my queen-sized bed at night.

I am a simple lass...

The second my head hits my duck down pillow, and my body is enveloped in my goose down duvet, I am in heaven.  Oh, there is nothing quite like it.  I get this daft, goofy smile on my face and I let out a loud sigh - every night.

There's something brilliant about being in your favourite comfy clothes, no make up, totally at easy and ready to relax.

Yeah, such a special time of day.

That's one small step for a man, a giant Sleep for mankind.

Whats your favourite part of the day?

High Five - in the face - with a chair

Share you Five Biggest Pet Peeves over at Paula's Place.

  1. People who stand too close to me in a queue.  It's called personal space, Plonkers!  Take a step back.
  2. Vermin....anything to do with rats, mice or gerbils gives me the serious fucking heebie-jeebies.
  3. Not enough hot water to have a piping hot bath.
  4. Free Gifts....what other type of gifts are there?  I detest the use of the words "free gift".
  5. Captchas.  I detest them and often don't want to comment on a blog because of the irritation.

What are you rants?

Thinspiration

It's Day 21 of The July Blog Challenge over a Paula's Place.  Go link up and read every one's thoughts on how the media portrays body images for young girls.

I frikken detest the way the media influences young girls to feel inadequate about our their bodies.

Something other than perfection is not acceptable. Girls are always feeling the pressure to be thin.

Unrealistic anorexic girls prance down the runaway and magazines are splatted with stick-insects and lollypop girls.  The television and movies only seem to employ size 0 girls who wake up with full make-up jobs and faultless hair.  It's constantly rubbed in our faces in all types of media.

You only have to witness young women on the red carpet with their titties taped up, their botox riddled frozen faces with a mouthful of porcelain veneers, to know that flawed women are just not good enough.

It makes us chunky girls feel like we are completely deficient and uglier than a bag full of arseholes.

You only have to log on to Pinterest and Instagram to find young girls proudly posting pictures of their protruding hip bones and ribs and they even have a name for it.  Thinspo or....now that controversy has been linked to the word, they simply changed it to Fitspo.

These girls constantly post pictures of their thigh-gaps and declare how "fat" they are.  They are regularly reading Thinspiration slogans and declaring that Nothing Tastes as Thin Feels.  They seem to feed of one another's "success" in keeping soopa thin and compete with one another to see who has the best in-grown stomach.

It's sad that women feel the need to be a certain size to feel feminine and desirable.

Is this society and the media's fault for only ever presenting us with photoshopped perfection?

Balloon Date

For Father's Day 2011, I took my Boerewors Hot Air Ballooing.  It was the best date ever!

Our anniversary Balloon Ride was a day to remember.  I booked us into a nearby resort for the night, where we enjoyed a romantic, delicious dinner by fire light.   The next morning we got up before sun rise.  It was freezing cold, but the sunrise drifting in a balloon at a few thousand feet was beautiful and deadly quiet.  You won't believe how silent it is way up there.

A once in a life time experience.

Little Shop of Boerewors

Day 19 of the July Blog Challenge over at Paula's Place and today I'm blogging about someone I really care about.

That would be my Boerewors.  My husband, my partner in crime.

He's always thoughtful, generous, patient, hot and as daft as a brush.

I love him to bits.

Married for 13 years, loads of up and downs, plenty of memories and I couldn't ask for a better, and more precious partner.

You are my heart, my soul, my treasure, my today, my tomorrow, my forever, my everything!
