Winning Spree

Happy Christmas Eve, Pretty Plonkers.

I've been on a bit of a winning streak lately.

In this month alone, I have won three competitions and been offered a voucher in return for a blog post.

I'm gonna share with you my winnings in the post and tell you about all the cool stuff I've won.

Firstly, thanks to Bailey Schneider on 2OVFM who chose me as her winner for a Crazy White Boy CD

Secondly, Spree.co.za picked me as their winner for one of their #15FAB Giveaways on Twitter.  I won a beautiful leather laptop bag, which arrived safely in the mail the other day.

A huge thank you to Spree who chose me as their winner for captioning an image of theirs.

No Bad Treats for My Good Dawg

I won a competition to Name The Fairy Godmother on Chicara's Blog Lipgloss Kisses.  I'm not sure what I won but I would assume, a lipgloss?

Monday Music Jollifications

2 More Sleepies and its Christmas.

For Christmas Eve our wee family are going to visit thLombardi Lions. We'll get to play with the baby lions and take some pictures with them.  It's gonna be a fun and different Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Day, we're going out for lunch this year. Someone else is cooking, someone else is doing the dishes and someone else is cleaning up.  Doesn't get fekking better than that.

We're off to Kenjara Lodge in The Cradle of Humankind, in the bush, for a traditional Christmas Lunch and perhaps a bit of a swim in their rock pool.

Boxing Day will be spent with My Boerewors' family, more food, more jollifications and more prezzies.

So back to the Music... here are some Classics.

Have a wonderful and happy Christmas no matter what you do, Plonkers.  Love to each and every one of you.  Mwah! Mwah!

This one is for My Gran, who loved Perry Como...

Keedo

South African kids clothing brand, Keedo, recently celebrated their 20 year anniversary with a whole new look, new logo, new website and new online store.  They are a socially responsible brand who use great quality fabrics and funky designs and accessories for girls and boys from infants up to about 9 years of age.

Keedo Kids also offers FREE delivery on all orders countrywide.

Using the Keedo online store was a little confusing for me at first, (even though I do a LOT of online shopping). In the Shopping Cart and Checkout they had a place for both a  gift voucher as well as a coupon and I tried to use both but with no luck.  With many emails backwards and forwards, error messages, invalid voucher numbers, I got increasingly frustrated with all the misunderstandings.

However, the technical staff were extremely friendly and accommodating.  We eventually got it right!

I chose a simple vest-shirt from their Edge Range for my youngest, Kaylin, who is a bit of a tomboy and absolutely adores her shirt.  I found it a little bit pricey at R189 for a cotton vest-shirt, but the quality of the fabric is top notch.

When I eventually got the order in the system, it was processed with the speed of light and I had it in my hands the next day via courier.  I was very impressed with the delivery.

If you're looking for a last minute gift for your wee one this Christmas, give Keedo a go.  Check them out on Pinterest or Twitter.

Friday Update

Happy Friday, Pretty Plonkers.

I seem to be spending more and more time on Twitter and Instagram and I know I'm neglecting my blog and my writing. I haven't written anything decent for months!

I wish I could get out of my rut and write something good.

I am even contemplating stopping blogging until I can blog properly again.

So, here's a bit of an update.

I am now officially on holiday from today for an entire month! Pretty damn fucking awesome if you ask me.  We had our work closing breakfast this morning at Moonrakers to say farewell to our work colleagues until the new year. The food and conversation was great, although the service was incredibly slow.

So last week, we had a busy one.

It was my 14th wedding anniversary and I got my favourite perfume and my girls made me my favourite - tea in bed.  What more could a lass ask for?

Last week, my nephew, Dylan, was in a local singing talent competition and was the only boy to reach the finals (all the others were lassies).  He was gutted when he didn't win, but all the family went along to cheer him on and watch him sing Elvis' "All Shook Up".  He's a huge Bruno Mars fan but thought it would be a better choice singing Elvis when he found out all the judges were old farts.

We also had our local CPF (Brackenhurst Community Policy Forum) year end braai at Jackson Dam.  Lots of fun in the sun and I got burnt to a crisp!  I have a very sexy flip flop tan to go along with my yoga pants tan.  I really have to sort that fucking shit out this holiday.  My legs resemble Cat In the Hat's hat.

We've put all our Christmas tree lights up and I'm convinced you can see us from fekking outer space.  It even tripped all the power the other night, but it looks incredibly festive and I'm dead chuffed. Christmas is my favourite holiday and it looks beautiful (even if Rudolf looks like a Fox).  What does the Fox say?
Tomorrow is my Boerewors' 40th birthday and because he didn't want a party, or to celebrate, we are going to a friend's 21st birthday party instead.  I have "cake for breakfast" planned and some nice prezzies for him.  Will share pix soon enough...

We have a new puppy in our family.  I have introduced her on Instagram and Twitter but not officially on my blog.

She is a wee soft-natured Jack Russel and her name is Abby.  A friend for Penny and Emma.  They love her to bits.  Another wee playmate for them.

We went to Meg and KK's school Carols By Candlelight and it was a lovely night.  The choir and the musicians were well-rehearsed and I burnt my leg with candle wax at least half a dozen times.  Next year we're going to Carols By GlowStix.  I can't bear all the injuries.

Kaylin's face is almost completely healed after her high-speed face plant with a plastic chair. We had a HUGE scare that she'd broke her nose but it was just loads of soft tissue damage and tons of bruising and swelling.  My poor wee peanut looks like an alien for a while but its amazing how quickly kids heal and how resilient they are.  Bouncing Back is so much easier when you're only 7.

From this

to this

On Monday, we are getting together with sister at her place for an early Christmas lunch.  I know it's over a week early, but it will be the last time that we can all be together with our six kids.  Lots of festive jollifications planned;  Christmas hats, plenty presents, Michael Bublé and Christmas crackers.

Have a weekend filled with love, laughter and awesomeness.

Monday Music Jingles

Well, our Christmas decorations and lights are up and they look great!  We even have a flashing Rudolf.  And by that I mean our Rudolf has flashing lights...not...nevermind.

For the entire month of December, Xmas Dolly's Monday Music Moves Me theme is Christmas Songs, of course, but as usual I'm breaking the rules, because #1, thats how I roll and #2, I want to showcase someone.

His name is Dave Cad, he's been a YouTube vlogger for a good few years and I've been following him for as long as I can remember.  Way back before he was a famous and very popular YouTuber.  He's an incredibly talented bloke, with many hidden talents and a brilliant sense of humour.  He constantly under-estimates himself and could use another couple of thousand followers.  Go check him oot, oh yeah, Dave's on Twitter too.

RIP Madiba, Nelson Mandela

It is quite a somber day in South Africa.

Nelson Mandela past away last night.

Not only is the weather overcast and gloomy, but the mood in the country is melancholy.

Madiba will be remembered as a symbol for wisdom, for the ability to change, and the power of reconciliation.

In Zuma's address to the nation today
“Although we knew this day was going to come, nothing can diminish our sense of a profound and enduring loss. His tireless struggle for freedom earned him the respect of the world. His humility, passion and humanity earned him their love.”

Rest In Peach, Madiba.

Yes, But Can He Dance?

I am a dynamic figure, often seen scaling walls and crushing ice. I have been known to remodel train stations on my lunch breaks, making them more efficient in the area of heat retention. I translate ethnic slurs for Cuban refugees, I write award-winning operas, I manage time efficiently. Occasionally, I tread water for three days in a row.

I woo women with my sensuous and godlike trombone playing, I can pilot bicycles up severe inclines with unflagging speed, and I cook Thirty Minute Brownies in twenty minutes. I am an expert in stucco, a veteran in love, and an outlaw in Peru.

Using only a hoe and a large glass of water, I once single-handedly defended a small village in the Amazon Basin from a horde of ferocious army ants. I play bluegrass cello, I was scouted by the Mets. I am the subject of numerous documentaries. When I'm bored, I build large suspension bridges in my yard. I enjoy urban hang gliding. On Wednesdays, after school, I repair electrical appliances free of charge.

I am an abstract artist, a concrete analyst, and a ruthless bookie. Critics worldwide swoon over my original line of corduroy evening wear. I don't perspire. I am a private citizen, yet I receive fan mail. I have been caller number nine and won the weekend passes. Last summer I toured New Jersey with a traveling centrifugal-force demonstration. I bat .400. My deft floral arrangements have earned me fame in international botany circles. Children trust me.

I can hurl tennis rackets at small moving objects with deadly accuracy. I once read Paradise Lost, Moby Dick, and David Copperfield in one day and still had time to refurbish an entire dining room that evening. I know the exact location of every food item in the supermarket. I have performed covert operations for the CIA.

I sleep once a week; when I do sleep, I sleep in a chair. While on vacation in Canada, I successfully negotiated with a group of terrorists who had seized a small bakery. The laws of physics do not apply to me.

I balance, I weave, I dodge, I frolic, and my bills are all paid. On weekends, to let off steam, I participate in full-contact origami. Years ago I discovered the meaning of life but forgot to write it down. I have made extraordinary four-course meals using only a Mouli and a toaster oven. I breed prizewinning clams. I have won bullfights in San Juan, cliff-diving competitions in Sri Lanka, and spelling bees at the Kremlin. I have played Hamlet, I have performed open-heart surgery, and I have spoken with Elvis.

But I have not yet shoved a short-shafted broom up my arse and swept the floor while I complete all these tasks.
