My Wee Lassie Had a Fight with a Chair

Guess who won?

At the Hospital Waiting for the Doctor
She came running down the slide, lost her balance and connected her face, mainly her nose, with a picnic bench chair.

Crack!

Blood everywhere!

We rushed off to the emergency room, where the doctor confirmed that she would need stitches to the gash on her nose. The doctor gave her pain medication and a sedative so we could go get an x-ray.  Kaylin then got really nervous, she because didn't know what to expect.  We just told her it was a massive camera that took pictures of her bones.

My brave wee lassie got her x-ray and we went back to the ER to see the doctor.  He injected a numbing agent into her would on her nose, and Kaylin screamed and cried.

Poor wee button - it was really painful....and all I could do was hold her hand.  My Boerewors handled the situation beautifully and calmly.  He was awesome.

She got four stitches on the bridge of her nose and x-ray revealed no fractures only lots of swollen tissue.   I guess she's gonna have a shiner or two with this face plant.

Xrays show no fractures but she needed 4 stitches

Two hours in the ER and watching your little one ride the pain meds wave was certainly entertaining.  She was high as a kite last night and she couldn't understand why we kept giggling at her silly behaviour.

Now she looks a little like Neytiri from Avatar, minus the blue body paint.

Caption my Photo Competition #27

Just a reminder that I'm running this competition for another week, because I was so late post last week.

So, you beautiful Plonkers know the drill.

Ultimate Braai Master and The Road Less Travelled

Some of you may know that I'm a huge Ultimate Braai Master fan.

Firstly, let me explain to my foreign Plonkers what exactly that is.

The Ultimate Braai Master is South Africa's first original reality-based television series, hosted by Bush-Cook Guru, Justin Bonello.  60 Days, 8000 km of traveling through South African to beautiful locations, cooking everything on the braai.  Each week The Teams face challenges replicating or inventing their own dishes on the coals.  The best teams win awesome rewards and the losing teams face elimination challenges.

It's on-the-edge-of-yer-seat stuff and a show that is well-produced and extremely entertaining.

Now, here this....

I didn't watch the first season.  I'm not going to make trivial excuses for that, because I actually didn't know about it.  Anyhoo, since I knew it was going to be replacing Strictly Come Dancing in September/October, I figured I'd give it a twizzle.

It was actually hubby that raved about it and wanted to tune in every Wednesday, but most of the time he fell asleep and left me glued to SABC3, while he sawed logs and snored like a bear.

Every Wednesday night, I make sure I have a cold beverage, tasty nibbles and maintain full battery life on my phone.  I constantly Tweet during the show and engage with other #UBM fans.   It's like a wee UBM Twitter Clan, where we chirp and tweet during the entire episode.

During the second or third episode, UBM Tweeted that they were giving away Justin Bonello's latest cook book from UBM Season Two namely Road Less Travelled.  I was after that piece of literature and I managed to win a copy!

Booyah!

It arrived on Friday - autographed - and I couldn't be more stoked.  If you don't know what to get your hubby for Christmas, it's the perfect gift. (Especially if you want to spend less time in the kitchen and turn him into a BraaiMaster).

Go and get yerself a copy and he'll be making BraaiPaais in no time.

Music Monday 80s edition

Today's Monday Music Moves Me theme over at Xmas Dolly is songs that you listened to in High School.

High School for me was 1985 until 1989 (God, I'm showing my age) and I was heavy into my music then...I used to watch Video 2 (a local music programme) every week, with out fail, and record on to our double-sided Phillips video tapes.  I would watch, listen and dance over and over again in front of the telly and listening to my favourite hits.

I was seriously in love with Bono from U2 and thought he was Sex on Legs!  He still is (in my eyes).

So, beautiful Plonkers, lets take a trip back to the eighties...
