Remember clapping this Playground Classic?

My sister and I used to do clapping games at lightning speed - I still do it with my lassies too.

We used this and other songs for clapping and skipping games too.

I loved skipping (with double ropes too) and Chinese ropes (which was just a bunch of elastic bands joined together).  You and a friend stood face-to-face about four feet from one another, hooked the elastics around your ankles and the person playing the game jumped in and out and on the elastic bands in time to the syllables of the song.

Not last night but the night before
24 robbers came knocking at my door,
I ran out, (run out of rope), to let them in, (jump back in)
and this is what they said to me :

Spanish dancers do the splits, (jumper doing the commands after each)
Spanish dancers do the kicks,
Spanish dances turn around,
Spanish dancers touch the ground,
Spanish dancers get out of town, (run out of rope, end of turn) 

 and loads of  risqué ones too

When Suzy was a school girl, she said miss, miss I can't do this I've got my knickers in a great big twist.  When Suzy was a teenager ... She said "ooh, ah I've lost my bra, I've left my knickers in my boyfriend's car".

I much preferred playing marbles in the dirty with the boys though.

Today's musical interlude is my favourite band as a teenager. I was so much in love with Paul Hewson aka Bono and had all their records.

Music Monday 80s edition

Today's Monday Music Moves Me theme over at Xmas Dolly is songs that you listened to in High School.  

High School for me was 1985 until 1989 (God, I'm showing my age) and I was heavy into my music then...I used to watch Video 2 (a local music programme) every week, with out fail, and record on to our double-sided Phillips video tapes.  I would watch, listen and dance over and over again in front of the telly and listening to my favourite hits.

I was seriously in love with Bono from U2 and thought he was Sex on Legs!  He still is (in my eyes).

So, beautiful Plonkers, lets take a trip back to the eighties...

Get Back to your Cubicle and Think Outside the Box, Plonker

Whether your gig is playing a musical instrument like my guitar genius hero, Jack White or writing a song like Lennon and McCartney, written word like Shakespeare or creating something visual like a painting or sculpture.  

They are all asked the same question :"where does it come from"?

This is a difficult question to answer and got me pondering.

My opnion, is that it all starts with a feeling.  That feeling creates a spark, something that kick-starts that passion within you.  Something may make you angry, jealous, sad, happy, frustrated...Its starts with that specific feeling. 

The creativity kicks in when you display your individual method to express that feeling.


It then moves to the expressive stage, getting that feeling "out there" by producing a piece of work that you cannot stop or delay until all those feelings are expressed in a way that makes you feel satisfied.


It needs concentration and pushing your boundaries of thought and method. But once its out there it is a huge relief.  The feeling of accomplishment when it is completed they exact way you intended it to.

You've shared something with another human being. We only hope that in the process, we've made someone else feel connected to it.  Making them feel like they are not alone, that someone shares their thoughts.

If you have made someone relate and agree - or disagree - the creative process has been complete.

As long as it stirs some sort of emotion that starts the entire process off again.

Yesterday, I watched It Might Get Loud which is a documentary movie about three awesome guitarists: Jimmy Page from Led Zepplin, Jack White from The White Stripes and The Edge from U2.  This made me think of the creative process and how it manifests...

Day 8 - The 30 Day Blog Challenge

Topic - A song to match your mood

Most of you know that I love my music and so it is difficult to pick ONE song that matches my mood.  But since I can remember, I've been secretly (okay its not a secret anymore) in love with Bono aka Paul Hewson from U2.  

As a teenager I had all their LPs and used to play them until they were scratched to all hell. I know all the words to most of their songs (especially the earlier records) and love to belt it out dueting with Bono in my car.

Bono is Sex On Legs (you can't dispute it), he's hot, I think he has a brilliant voice (when he sings and when he talks), I think his band is incredibly talented and rockin'.  He does great work for charity helping to raise money to end hunger, poverty and disease, especially in Africa.  He's been married to his high school sweetheart for decades, which is rare in the entertainment industry.  

Bono just seems like an all-round good guy.  He's now heading into his 50's and boy, he still makes my knees wobble. He's  just seems to get sexier with age - like an old fine wine - Blanc De Dublin Bono.

Enjoy him is all his AWESOMENESS!

Who have you always wanted to meet face to face and why?

I asked this question yesterday when I posted about my sister meeting Jack Bruce in London.  I said I would tell you who I'd like to meet face to face.

 My answer is :

Paul Hewson aka Bono from the band U2.  Not only is he soopa talented and has the most dreamy accent, but he gets hawter as he gets older.  He’s always had strong political and religious undertones in his music with U2.  I’ll bet he’d be fascinating to talk to and awesome to party with.  He can shake his stuff on my table anyday!

Sir Paul Hewson has even been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and knighted by the Queen.  I’ll bet you didn’t know that?  But you could guess with the amount of humanitarian and charity work he does, he’s bound to scramble up some awards.

Paul Hewson is a great guy, who’s been married to the same girl for nearly 30 years, which is usually non-existing in the entertainment industry (let alone rock ‘n roll) and has four kids including two gorgeous teenage girls.

Who would you like to meet and why??
