11 000 feet at 200kph

Megan and Riaan's first skydiving experience with Johannesburg Skydiving Club.

My Dive #2 and it was AWESOME!  There are very few words to describe this experience....

The day was perfect 33 deg C weather and not a cloud in the sky. We got suited up and briefed and it was a short walk to the aircraft.  A ten to fifteen minute aircraft ride to get up to 11 000ft was soopa hot, so hot they eventually opened the door a little to get a breeze through.  I was first to go, then Riaan and Meg was saved for last.

An approximate 40 second free fall through the clouds at 200kph, parachute opens and then a 10 minute gentle float to the ground with lots of spiraling left and right, with the best view you have EVER seen.  You can see for miles.  It its completely breathtaking and utterly silent!

As soon as our feet touched the ground, both Megan and I yelled the same thing "I WANNA GO AGAIN".  Riaan said he would probably never do it again.  My Boerewors suffers from motion sickness and I guess this was a little too extreme for him.  He says he's not sorry he experience it, but that its NOT for him.

The anticipation smiles, suited up and ready to head out to the plane
Megan outside the plane
Megan in the plane getting ready to jump
Megan with her legs dangling out at 11 000ft, ready to GO!
Upside down at 11 000ft, 200kph freefall. Total Adrenaline Rush.
Megan giving the cam the thumbs up.  Look at that view!
Megan and Chris Grosch
Megan couldn't stop grinning
Riaan 11 000ft Freefalling at 200kph
Riaan flying adjacent the aircraft.
Face and smiles AFTER the dive!
Enjoying the adrenaline
Steering the parachute.  Spiraling through the sky.  That view!
Free Fall Grins
My I WANNA GO AGAIN face!
We did it

Happy 11th Birthday, Megan

It's my daughter, Megan's birthday today.

Happy Birthday my wee button,.

A while ago, I asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday this year as she's getting a bit too old for a sugar-high party-at-the-house with a bouncy castle and water slide.  I gave her a few options.  Either, a big party with all her friends, a small intimate dinner with a couple of her friends, or to go skydiving.

Guess which one she chose?

You guessed it, we're going skydiving.

She is soopa excited and so am I.  Actually, all of us are going (except Kaylin) extreme sports is definitely not her thing.

Meg's had a fat lip ever since I went skydiving with my BFF last year for her 50th birthday.  Megan cried when I got on the plane to go, because she wanted to go with me.  At the time, I couldn't afford to pay for both of us to do it.  Now almost a year later, I get to gift her one of her dreams.  I couldn't be more stoked for her.

What better birthday gift than an experience she'll NEVER forget, right?

Will post pix soon.

Here's the poem I wrote in her birthday card:

Today's your birthday and you're turning eleven
Lets do it together and dive from the heavens
Jumping out of a plane at 200 kilometers per hour
From 12 000 feet high, feel the airstream power.

I hope it will be something you'll never forget
Just don't let your knickers get wet!
No one loves you more than I love you

Challenge. Accepted

Megan and I attempted The Cinnamon Challenge (Megan's idea after gigglin hysterically for hours watching similar You Tube videos)

We decided to give it a go.

So sorry about the poor audio half way through.  My Boerewors is a leftie and he put his finger over the audio on my video camera.  However, you don't really need audio to know that I was horrified.

Let me know if you'd try it.  Let me know if you post a video....I love to watch shit like this.

Got any more challenges that we can do???

Back To School

So my wee lassies started Grade 5 and Grade 2 yesterday.

Megan remains in her school and starts e-learning this year. No books, everything is done on their tablets.   It's a big change for the learners, but it's a change they're all very excited about.  She's not very happy with the register teacher she's been assigned to, but that's beyond my control and the school's decision.  Should it become a problem, I'll step in.

Kaylin goes to a brand new private school where she doesn't know any of the teachers, any of the learners and doesn't know her way around the school. Its pretty daunting for her and there was lots of tears on her first day at her new school. I know its the best environment for her.

With her SIDS, ADHD and ODD having maximum of 18 girls in the class is perfect for her. She gets more attention and there is no fear of her being left behind or left in the dark. It's a peaceful environment out in a country setting.   She just needs times to get used to her teachers, her friends and her environment.

It will only take time to settle, and at this stage, I'm taking it day-by-day.

I only got pix of Kaylin to share, because her big sister refused to pose.

Happy 2014. What is your Resolution?

Happy New Year to all you Pretty Plonkers.

I am having an awesome holiday at home and spending some good quality time with my family and friends.

I wish you all a wonderful year ahead and I just know this is going to be a good year.  I have made a few resolutions...I normally don't, but the 14kg that I managed to shred two years ago have crept back on.  Mrs Fatty is back but she has focus to do it all again.  Thank you to Dr Dukan.

I have decided to get back on the wagon with regards to my abysmal relationship with food.  It's a love / hate relationship that has to be reeled in and harnessed.  It's like a wild animal that needs to be tamed and controlled.  I'm getting real, Bitches!

So, as of yesterday my Dukan journey has been resumed and is sincerely underway.  I'd say wish me luck but I don't need luck - only a healthy balanced diet and regular exercise.

Did you make any New Year's resolutions?

Tell me about yours.
