Friday....my Second Favourite F Word

For Christmas this year my Brother-In-Law and our niece is coming from Australia.

We are extremely excited to be seeing them as we haven't spent time with them for 2 years.  Its been a long time and we all have so much to catch up on. It will be so festive to have a big family get together on Christmas Day, have lunch and share the day swapping stories.

However, I'm secretly jealous, as I haven't seen my folks since April this year. I can't tell you how much I miss my mum and wish I could go there for Christmas too. Our budget just doesn't allow us this year, as we have a massive school fees bill that we need to sort out for 2016.

I'll be playing the lottery hoping to win a few thousand rands so that we can have a wee beach holiday with my mum and dad....

What are you plans for Christmas?

Happy Friday, Plonkers!

What do you want from Santa this year?

Have you even thought about Christmas?  or are you one of those people who plan Christmas from October?  Do you have all your Christmas shopping already done and gift wrapped?  Are you one of those that have lists for everyone and everything?  Lists of the lists?

I'm one of those people who leave Christmas until the middle of December and then go do all my shopping.  I normally only wrap Christmas gifts a few days before and I'm an impulse shopper.

However, I have made a Pinterest Christmas Wish List last year.  Not that anyone looked at it, but just in case someone wants to stumble across it and buy me a little somethin-somethin.

Have you thought about Christmas yet?

Are you one of those that plan ahead?

Are you on Santas naughty or nice list?

Monday Music Jollifications

2 More Sleepies and its Christmas.

For Christmas Eve our wee family are going to visit thLombardi Lions. We'll get to play with the baby lions and take some pictures with them.  It's gonna be a fun and different Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Day, we're going out for lunch this year. Someone else is cooking, someone else is doing the dishes and someone else is cleaning up.  Doesn't get fekking better than that.

We're off to Kenjara Lodge in The Cradle of Humankind, in the bush, for a traditional Christmas Lunch and perhaps a bit of a swim in their rock pool.

Boxing Day will be spent with My Boerewors' family, more food, more jollifications and more prezzies.

So back to the Music... here are some Classics.

Have a wonderful and happy Christmas no matter what you do, Plonkers.  Love to each and every one of you.  Mwah! Mwah!

This one is for My Gran, who loved Perry Como...

Monday Music Jingles

Well, our Christmas decorations and lights are up and they look great!  We even have a flashing Rudolf.  And by that I mean our Rudolf has flashing lights...not...nevermind.

For the entire month of December, Xmas Dolly's Monday Music Moves Me theme is Christmas Songs, of course, but as usual I'm breaking the rules, because #1, thats how I roll and #2, I want to showcase someone.

His name is Dave Cad, he's been a YouTube vlogger for a good few years and I've been following him for as long as I can remember.  Way back before he was a famous and very popular YouTuber.  He's an incredibly talented bloke, with many hidden talents and a brilliant sense of humour.  He constantly under-estimates himself and could use another couple of thousand followers.  Go check him oot, oh yeah, Dave's on Twitter too.

Some sweet sounds from the boys from Libera

Time for some Christmas Swag?

And of course some Christmassy Jack and Meg White

When I Think About You....I touch my Elf

So, this year we’ve organised something a little different for Christmas Day.
Every year, we have our traditional Christmas turkey dinner with all the trimmings at home.  We slog ourselves stukken in the kitchen;  chopping, cutting, stuffing, preparing and baking piles of food.  We inevitably burn our fingers on the oven or a pot, we eat for about 20 minutes and then we spend the next part of the day cleaning up and doing never ending piles of dirty dishes....and land up being fucking exhausted for the rest of the day and having left-overs for weeks.

Not this year, Plonkers.

After the usual opening truck loads of presents at home on Christmas morning, we are going OUT for Christmas Dinner.

Hell yeah.
Kenjara Lodge and Restaurant is our gorgeous destination.

Check it out.

An awesome Christmas spread in beautiful African surroundings.  Quiet, tranquil, peaceful with a full stocked, and dare-I-say-it, impressive Wine Cellar.  No Christmas dinner is complete without a good bottle of wino collapso.

Hell, I could even fit it an afternoon safari game drive if I wanted to.

How fekkin brilliant is that?

No clean up
No burnt fingers
No post dishes exhaustion
No anticlimax blues
No promising to never do it again

I may even book a room and spend the night.

and now on to sometime completely different....have you guys seen the current viral YouTube video BatDad?

Check it out.

Christmas Eve with A Daft Scots Lass and Gang

Christmas Eve was spent with close friends at Mandy's place and tradition goes that we spend R30 on everyone's gag gift and we wait until midnight and then spend ages getting Santa to dish out the presents.  Until midnight we played the board game 30 seconds and drank strawberry dacquiries.

Good Times!

10 Christmas Holiday Survival Tips

Get a handle on your health these holidays with our top ten festive season survival tips for managing your diet, sleep, fitness and more...

There’s no escaping this time of the year. As the festive party season begins, all those late nights, hangovers and mince pies will start leaving you feeling anything but merry. Avoid the festive free-fall by following these festive season survival tips.

Eat before you party
More debauched parties means more early morning fast food for most of us.

Voice of Reason: Eat a balanced meal before you head out – not only will it stop you from eating greasy fried food later, but it will also stop you from overeating at parties.

Comment:  *cough* Bullshite *cough*

Manage your indigestion
Rich foods, eating on the go and festive stress can all be overwhelming for your delicate digestive system and mean you pile on the calories and get fat too.

Voice of Reason: Try to avoid too many turkey dinners with all the trimmings, rich puddings and mince pies  Stick to protein-rich snacks like peanuts, rather than bread-based ones, to prevent feeling bloated. Take your time over meals and chew each mouthful properly to combat indigestion.

Comments:  Are you fucking shittin me?

Drink carefully
We don't plan to get completely legless and do a pole dance the work Christmas party but its a fact that we consume more alcohol over the festive season. This not only affects your weight, it also has a major impact on the way you look and feel. Hangovers aren't pretty and they are definitely NOT for sissies.

Voice of Reason:  Abstaining completely and completely unrealistic, however, you should limit your intake. Have a glass of water between each alcoholic drink, add soda water to a small glass of wine to make a longer-lasting spritzer and avoid sugar-laden cocktails or mixed drinks. Remember to call a taxi if you’ve had too much or nominate a driver amongst friends.

Comment:  Water?  Spritzer? WTF??

Rehydrate before bed
Drinking a few glasses of water before bedtime will not only reduce your hangover, but will also prevent your skin from drying out and looking like wrinkled prune.

Voice of Reason: Coconut water is an excellent alternative as it replenishes lost fluids and helps boost your immune system. A sports drink, although high in calories, also rehydrates and replaces the minerals that alcohol removes from your body.

Comment:  Need to pee?

Remove your makeup
You come out of that dark party hall looking like a battered panda cross racoon.  Don’t punish your skin further by neglecting to take your makeup off at the end of a big night out.

Voice of Reason : It may feel like an effort (especially after three bottles of wine), but this will allow your skin to breathe and regenerate while you get your beauty sleep. Use face wipes for quick removal and when all your makeup is off, apply a nourishing moisturiser to avoid a party-parched complexion.

If you wear contact lenses, don’t forget to take them out too of they will stick to your eyeballs like shit to the carpet.

Comment:  Where's the washcloth?!

Get as much sleep as you can
Party season means your sleep patterns are bound to be unsettled. Sleep deprivation has a knock-on effect on your looks, attention levels, decision-making ability and mood. In other words by the time 2 January rolls around you look 20 years older and have developed a twitch.

Voice of Reason: To ensure you get a good night’s sleep, avoid drinking alcohol three hours before going to bed. If possible, stay away from caffeine too for six hours before sleeping.

Comment:  Avoid caffeine?  Thats the only thing that keeps me alive!
tea bags on eyes
De-puff your eyes
Late nights and overdoing it take their toll on your windows to the soul.

Voice of Reason:  Apply a cold, moist tea bag under each eye for 10 minutes in the morning – the tannin in the tea reduces puffiness and is a cheap way to stop bags under your eyes. Avoid rubbing your eyes when you wake up as this only makes the bags worse.

Comment:  Avoid waking up.

Don’t neglect your feet
Dancing all night in those oh-so-pretty 5½ inch stilettos may buy you confidence, but your feet will feel it the next morning.

Voice of Reason:  Try not to wear killer high heels every night – and if you absolutely have to, invest in some gel cushions for those throbbing bunions. Show your feet some love by applying a good moisturiser to prevent blisters.

Comments:  How can I neglect my hooker heels during party season?

Work in workouts
Make sure you fit your workouts into your week – I hear you groaning.

Voice of Reason:  Take the stairs instead of the lift, walk up the escalator and park further away from stores. Any exercise will help reduce your stress levels and balance out those extra snacks.

Comments:  This proves far too difficult.

Beware of the sun
You know the drill. If you live in the southern hemisphere like wee moi, you need to wear sunscreen every day.

Voice of Reason:  Not only will this be preventing skin cancer, but you will also avoid skin damage like sunburn, wrinkles and fine lines. Use a moisturiser with an SPF to save you time but reapply if you spend most of your day outdoors.

Comments:  Just do it!

Now that you're fully prepared for the festivities, go have FUN!

BlogFestivus and the 12th Day of Christmas

One the 12th Day of Christmas my true love sent to me...

... Twelve Drummers Drumming.

Welcome to the final day of the 12 Days of Christmas Blog Challenge, Plonkers!

For the last day, I wanted to find something that comes in dozens - it was either eggs, or doughnuts. And because I craved jammy doughnuts when I was pregnant with Megan, and they come in dozens - so jam doughnuts it is!

What a BANGIN BlogFestivus is has been!

Huge props go out to Blogdramedy for hosting the 12 Days of Christmas Blogfest. I've enjoyed it, thoroughly.  I've enjoyed how in the first few days it started as one thing, and landed up twisting into something completely whack-a-doodle!  I've enjoyed reading all the over participant's submissions and I must admit mine has been second rate compared to their talents.
I've picked up some new Bloggers to follow from it and I can't wait to read more.
For your amusement, here is my daft, full version of 12 Days of Christmas.

"12 Jammy Doughnuts
11 Soccer Hotties
10 Seasons of Big Bang Theory
9 Inch Vibrating Dildo
8 Shots of Botox
7 Priceless Plonkers
6 Penguin Biscuits
5 Gigs of Porn
4 Liverpool Blokes
3 Brontë Sisters
2 Jimmy Choos
And Jamie Oliver’s Satay Chicken on a Stick"

Don't forget that we're back on track with Caption My Daft Photo Competition tomorrow.  I have a cracker for you beautiful Plonkers!

What is Your Christmas Wish?

Tell me your Christmas Wish

Now I'm not just talking about material things.  I'm talking about ANY wish.

Okay, lets do it this way...

Tell me one material wish and one other wish....now don't go all "Miss World" on me and tell me you want World Peace or something totally unattainable.  Tell me something that YOU want.  Something that would make YOU happy.

This a selfish Christmas Wish but remember I'm no genie so I won't be able to grant any of your wishes.  I would just love to hear them all.

Who knows....Santa or someone who could grant your wish may hear or see your comment.

It can be a simple as your like or as whacky as you like.

I just wanna hear from you.

I'll start with mine :

I'd love a new pair of square-cut diamond earings for myself...and I'd love to be able to afford to buy both my girls a new fancy bike each and a large wooden dolls house with all the accessories.  They'd both be beaming.

So, if I can't have my material things...I'd love an awesome Christmas day filled with family, friends, lots of love and giggles.  I will be at home with my Boerewors and my girls this year (we're not going away on holiday this year) and I can't wait to spend three weeks at home with them.  Lots of quality time together with games and swimming pool fun.

Here's something I don't want...and old flabby Santa flashing his shrivelled bits at me.
I can do without that vivid visual thank you very much.

Christmas Conversations with Our Megan

Megan :  Mummy, when its Christmas, will Santa and his reindeer fly over the wall to get into our house?

Me :  Yes, Megan they will land on the grass outside and then Santa will come in to drop off the presents.

Megan :  *thinking* Mummy, the reindeer must be very careful when flying over the wall. They mustn't hit the electric fence or they'll go to heaven.

Me :  Yes, but reindeer are VERY clever and they will know to fly up high.

Megan : *more thinking*  Mummy, how will Santa get inside?

Me : We'll leave the gate open for him.

Megan : *worried* But what if the baddies come in too?

Me : Perhaps we'll just leave a window open for him.

Megan : But Santas fat, how will he fit through?

Me :  Santa is like a super hero.  He can just suck it in and fit through the bars.

Megan : *pondering*  Mummy, if I'm in my bed and I hear Santas footsteps and I come running to see him?

Me :  Santa is soopa fast (super hero theory) and before you know it, he'll be flying off in his sled.

Megan :  But if I get to see him, will he leave me a bag of poo instead of presents?

Me:  Only if you're naughty, Megan.  Besides, he'll have already left all your presents by the Tree.

Megan :   *more pondering*  Oh yes!

Talk about 101 questions about Christmas and Santa and how it all works.
Don't you just LOVE their innocence?
