Magical History Tour

Today is the last day of Paula's July Blog Challenge and today we blog about "One person from History you'd like to spend the day"

 Henry VIII

He was a Lord.

He was a King.

He was a ginger.

He was fat, really fat....ah, I'm sure he blames the good life of the rich and infamous.

Henry had The Balls to start his own church and his modus operande was to behead people who displeased him. A bit barbaric, but it takes big cahoonas  to behead everyone who calls you a fat fuck.  He loved to decorate his large frame with pretty baubles and spent a small fortune on embellishments.  He loves to party like the king-rock-star he was.

Who wouldn't want to spend a day with this bloke and get inside his head?

To Tea, or not To Tea

Paula's July Blog Challenge topic today is "The one thing you can't do without in your kitchen".

That's an easy one.....

Balloon Date

For Father's Day 2011, I took my Boerewors Hot Air Ballooing.  It was the best date ever!

Our anniversary Balloon Ride was a day to remember.  I booked us into a nearby resort for the night, where we enjoyed a romantic, delicious dinner by fire light.   The next morning we got up before sun rise.  It was freezing cold, but the sunrise drifting in a balloon at a few thousand feet was beautiful and deadly quiet.  You won't believe how silent it is way up there.

A once in a life time experience.

Next Lady For A Shave

Day 16 of Paula's July Blog Challenge.

Today's Question:  What is one thing that you have never done that you think most people have?

I have never shaved my face.

There are more men on this earth than women, right?  That means most people have shaved their face and I've never done that....

...until today.

Next time you shave, try standing an inch or two closer to the blade.

Random Act of Kindness

Paula has challenged everyone who signed up for July's Blog Challenge to do a good deed and blog about it.

Well, my lovely Plonkers....this is something that I think of a lot.

I have actually done this before....I read it on someone's blog years ago that someone had taped a dollar to a snack vending machine.  I always wanted to do it.

The first time I did it, was at our local garage shop where they have an awesome Chaywa coffee/cappuccino/hot chocolate machine. I taped R20 to the machine with a note saying "Coffee's on Me".

Today, I did it again, at our local supermarket.  I taped a R10 to one of snack shelves with a wee note saying "RAOK. Snacks on Me" and walked away.

However, today played out a little differently to last time.  When I was walking away, something pulled me back to sneak a peak at who would find the cash.

I stood lurking at the end of the isle pretending to oogle the chocolates.  A man and his two young kids came up the isle.  His daughter couldn't have been more than six years old and she noticed the money first.  Her face was absolutely priceless!  Her eyes went huge, she put her hand over her gasping mouth and pointed to the money.  Her dad pulled the money off the shelve, looked around smiling and after a few moments of chatting for a while, he picked up a family packet of crisps...

Mission Accomplished!

It was great to be able to watch the recipient of my RAOK this time!  I got such a massive kick out of it, I couldn't stop smiling all the way home.  I'm still smiling writing this post....

...just to know that this simple act made someone smile made me smile wider than ever.

What Random Acts of Kindness have you done?

Healthy Wealth

Link up with Paula and her July Blog Challenge.

Today's Question : Would you rather be rich of healthy?

Personally, I'd rather have my health, because I've never been rich and so you can't really miss what you haven't had, right?

I figure, if you don't have your health how can you honestly enjoy your wealth?  Oh I know your money could buy you the best health care and treatments but how much fun can you have when you're always ill.

Yeah, I'd have my health...but a wee bit more money wouldn't hurt either.

And one of my favourite bands, ACDC, talking about money

Shoegasm and Instagram Whore

Happy Friday, Plonkers!

It's Day 12 of Paula's July Blog Challenge.  Go sign up if you haven't already.

Today's Question : Who or what do you take the most pictures of?

Another easy one -  my family and friends.

I take my camera everywhere and my phone takes great pictures too.

Most of you beautiful Plonkers know that I'm an Instagram Whore and if you follow me there, you'll know that I post pictures about pretty much everything.

My HTC X One has been in for repairs for over a month.  After I shattered the screen, I'm waiting for my insurance to pay out so that I can either get mine repaired, or get a new phone.

I miss my phone, I miss Instagram and taking and posting daily pictures.

Follow me on Instagram.  I'll be back there sooner than you know it, snapping up everything and anything!

And now some pretty shoes...Friday is my Shoegasm day but in actual fact I look at shoes on the interwebz every day.  I subscribe to a few "Shoe of the Day" sites and I'm forever oogling them on Pinterest.

I love to find websites that offer designer-looking shoes at bargain prices but, alas, most of them are in the US or the UK and the shipping costs versus the shoes are astronomical.  Och well, a girl can still dream about pretty shoes, right?

Royal Blue sequined Peep Toe with Union Jack design

Pinup Girl Peep Toe Platforms with pretty bow detail

One of my favourites - Iron Fist.  Love the Sugar Skull
This nude sandal is WAY over the top but so pretty.
I don't have the most dainty ankles for this design, but I can still admire them, right?

Mint and Black Strikin PeepToes with Black Flower ankle detail.  So Glam!

Now go and have a great weekend, my Lovely Plonkers!

Blue BooBoo

Visit Paula's Place to find out about the July Blog Challenge

Today's Question : What is the worst injury you have ever had?

Apart from tearing my perineum when I squeezed by babies out of my Turkey Purse, I sprained my ankle back in the day when we wore those ridiculously high platform sketchers.

I had too much to drink one night, misjudged the steps and took a nasty fall.  My ankle was instantly black and blue and swollen.  I later found out that I had tore ligaments in my ankle, which took about 6 months to heal.  It was pretty fekking painful and I had to stop training until it healed and got stronger.  It's still a weak point when I run and I can't kneel down and sit on my knees without pain.  I really don't think it was ever treated properly.

I also broke my middle finger on the day of  my 10th birthday party.  One of my friends stepped back onto my finger and snapped it at the first knuckle.  Ouch! I was young so that healed pretty quickly...

So I guess I've been lucky...

Ain't Half Hot Mum

Fancy taking part in July's Blog Challenge?

Go visit Paula's Place to check it out and link up.

Today's Question :  Who inspires you?

That was a soopa easy question to answer.

My mum as a Teenager
My mum inspires me.

My mum met her childhood sweetheart when she was 15, she married him at 21 and they have been married for 47 years.  My parents gave up family and friends to move to another country to give us all a better life.  They were very brave to take such a risky chance.

Oh, there have been times when I didn't like my mum, because of her struggle with addiction.  There have been times where I didn't think she'd be around for too long, because of her downward spiral into the dark places of substance abuse.

My strong, beautiful mum has pulled herself out of that despair.  She has been sober for nearly 20 years, which deserves a fucking gold badge on its own.  My mum has inspired me to NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP.  No matter how bad things get, you CAN turn things around.

My mum inspires me to be strong and resourceful, to look for the best in people and always look for the good in situations.  It's not always easy because I'm rather a pessimist   I only have to remember one of my mother's many sayings;  Be Sure Your Sins will Find You Out.  Her sayings continuously bring me back to reality and the truth.  My mum's faith is unshakable and she has empathy and kindness for others way beyond my understanding.  Her awesomeness motivates me to be more like her.

If I have inherited an ounce of her inspiring spirit, I'll be content soul.

Happy Birthday Jack!

Firstly, lets take a minute to wish Jack a Happy Birthday.

I hope you have a fantastic day, you sexy, talented beast

Now on to July's Blog Challenge over at Paula's Place.
Go Link Up.

Today's Question is :  What is your food philosophy?

I have a love/hate relationship with food.

I love to eat, but I have always had to watch what I eat, because I pick up weight so easily.  I go through good, clean eating phases and then I fall off the wagon for a while.

I do use exercise to maintain my weight, but it's a constant a struggle for me.

Doesn't stop me from drooling over all the Food Porn on Pinterest.

Wing It Theory

Head on over to Paula's Place to check out the challenge happening during July.

Today's Topic : How will your life be different in five years?

I'm not someone who has a Five Year Plan.  Actually, I don't like to think or plan too far ahead.  You know, the best laid schemes 'o mice and men....

I'm more of a "Wing It" kinda gal.

I'm actually a simple lass, I don't need a big fancy house, or a flashy car or twinkling diamonds.  A pair of nice shoes or sunglasses every now and then is sweet, but I really wouldn't develop a twitch if I didn't have those things.  All I really need in my life is my Boerewors and my two wee lassies.  No prep necessary.

Sometimes, its better to just breathe, trust and see what happens.

Monday Music Moves Me over at Xmas Dolly and this week's theme is a freebie so I thought I'd keep with my Blog Challenge Theme.

Rockabilly versus Renaissance

My Wedding Day
Day 7 : If you could live in any time period in the past when would it be?

That would be the Renaissance period.  My wedding dress was renaissance style and I absolutely loved it and still love it.   I love period films and period costumes.  I love all things vintage.

My second favourite time would probably be the 1950s and early sixties when the PinupGirl was rockabilly was grooving.

Day 5 : Today's Question is - Post of picture of something or someone that made your day special.

Last week Friday, we had a Pajama Day at work and it was a blast.  Not much work was done, but it was great to be silly.   I needed that daft day after a really emotional week.
