Happy Turkey Stuffing, Yank-a-doodle-Dandeez!

World's Longest Ears

A Black and Tan Coonhound named 'Harbor', aged 8, from Boulder, Colorado, USA, has earned a spot in the upcoming Guinness World Records 2012 Edition for having the Longest Ears on a Living Dog.

Owned by Jennifer Wert, Harbor's left and right ears measure 12.25 inches and 13.5 inches respectively.
As a puppy Harbor would struggle with his colossal ears; frequently causing him to trip over them and roll down stairs.

Now at the age of 8 the purebred has grown into his ears (only occasionally tripping over!), the only trouble being caused by the attention he receives from members of the public.

World's Longest Nose

The Longest nose on a living person measures 8.8 cm (3.46 in) long from the bridge to the tip and belongs to Mehmet Ozyurek (Turkey).

It was measured on the set of Lo Show dei Record in Rome, Italy, on 18 March 2010.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

World's Longest Tongue

The longest tongue on a dog measures 11.43 cm (4.5 in) and belongs to Puggy, a male Pekingese owned by Becky Stanford (both United States). The measurement was taken at Avondale Haslet Animal Clinic, Texas, United States, on 8 May 2009, when Puggy was 9 years old.

World's Tallest Dog

The tallest dog ever is Giant George, a Great Dane, who measured 1 m 9 cm (43 in) tall on 15 February 2010 and is owned by David Nasser of Tucson, Arizona, USA.

World's Tallest Man

The tallest man living is Sultan Kösen (Turkey, b.10 December 1982) who measured 251 cm (8 ft 3 in) in Ankara, Turkey, on 08 February 2011.

The part-tme farmer was the first man over 8 ft (2.43 m) to be measured by Guinness World Record in over 20 years.

Indeed, GWR only knows of 10 confirmed or reliable cases in history of humans reaching 8 ft or more.

Sultan also holds the records for widest hand span and largest feet on a living person.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

And of course who could not forget

World's Cutest Dog

Wee Emma will have spent a month with us on Friday.  Can you believe it?  During that time she has winkled her way into hearts and into our bed!  Yeah, she finally upgraded from DoggieBed to  sharing our DoubleBed.  Och, but she's just a joy to have in our lives.

Emma still wet from having a bath

Crying all the way...

Love Me! Love Me!  Don't make me do that again?!

Happy Turkey Stuffing, Yankadoodles!

Lent for Liam

Liam is 13 years old. He has ADHD, suffers from extreme anxiety, panic attacks and is on medication for depression, concentration an anti-psychotic as he has bouts of hallucinations. He has also also been diagnosed with a learning disorder.
Liam is currently in a main stream environment where he is not coping and requires remedial assistance on a weekly basis, there is a professional who acts as Liam’s “scribe” since he cannot articulate the information he knows into writing. He meets with an education psychologist weekly and he attends a psychiatric hospital monthy to oversee his medication.

Liam goes to High School next year, there is no way he will cope emotionally, academically or socially. Remedial care has been suggested by more than one professional who has assessed Liam.

Liam needs help. His mom, Chrystel, needs help. She is a single mom with 2 other children. While she does have support in a wonderful partner and an awesome friendship circle, she needs financial assisitance.

One of her friends, Meriel came up with an idea. Her plan is to get Liam through school R100 at a time. Times are tough for us all but finding R100 is as simple as giving up something small each month. And for this reason the project has been name Lent for Liam.
This project has been running for over a month now. Enough has been raised to register Liam next year at a school geared towards helping him.

The aim now is to ensure that there is enough money monthly to keep Liam in this school until Matric.
How is this to be done:

Project Thanksgiving
Chrystel hosts a Thanksgiving dinner every year. 10 hostesses are needed to do the traditional Thanksgiving parties.
The hostess will plan whatever party you like. Guests will be asked to bring R10 with their thanksgiving wish. 10 friends x R10 = R100
We are looking for 10 brave hostesses to take up this challenge – we will have another R1 000.
Project Mistletoe
If you get an end of year bonus – donate R100.
If 10 carol-singers to do this – we will have another R1 000 in the fund.
Blog
If you have a blog – please tell your readers about this.
If 10 bloggers to do this and get one person from each to donate R100 a month that’s another R1000

Donate
You also simple donate R100 a month.
An account has been set up by an accountant. She will administer the account to make sure the money is used for Liams care.
