My mum and Dad retired to the south coast (about 700km away from us) about 10 years ago and I still can’t get used to the fact that she’s so far away. My mum and I are very close and we’re more than mother and daughter – we’re best friends. It pains me everyday to know that I can’t just pop in for a cup of tea, a fag and a good natter.
I love it when she comes up to Johannesburg to visit and stay with us. The house just seems to brighten up when she arrives. She loves spending time with the girls and her presence is just a joy. The girls love to play with her and she has all the time under the sun to get down to their level and enjoy a game of cars, dolls, building puzzles or just plain hanging out.
I miss her everyday and just wish she lived closer so that she could be a part of our daily lives. She’s wise and wonderful and has a heart of gold. I love her dearly and I appreciate everything she’s done and does for me.
I love you Mum! Come and visit soon please!
