South African Bloggers Conference
I've been reading all over the Blogsphere recently about the awesome Aussie Blogger's Conference held in Sydney last weekend.
I'd love to find a group of awesome people who can organise or who can assist to organise, a South African Bloggers Conference.
I'm sure it would be a HUGE success as the numbers of bloggers in South Africa are growing.
It would be brilliant to find a great venue for South African Bloggers to come from all over the country and share knowledge, workshops, blogging experiences, tips on blogging and vlogging and get Guest Speakers to talk to us and tell us how the professional do it.
Not only would we get to meet fellow bloggers, but we would learn something too.
Do you think its a great idea or what? or have I bitten off more than I can chew?
This is a HUGE undertaking but I'm sure I could find someone in the industry who would get involved in this, not only with the brainstorming and organising but with sponsorships and stuff.
If you have any suggestions, ideas and want to get involved please email me: info@redpepa.za.net

Are you a Bloggoholic?
When I started this wee blog almost two years ago, I never thought that I would get this hooked.
Look at me now....a total Blog Addict.
I think and talk about my blog constantly to my family and friends. I say things like "thats one for the blog" and I even talk about posts I've read and topics discussed to people who don't even know what a blog is?! I need serious help, don't I?
My Blog has become my third child - my clumsy toddler in stinky training pants that I embrace in my arms and help it grow and develop. Blogging feeds my mind and my soul. Its a never-ending source of information, thoughts, feelings, opinions and bloggers communicating with one another.
I love prowling other people's followers lists and finding interesting and original blogs to read and explore. Picture this : a humongous book with millions of pages and thousands of chapters that you will never complete in one life time. How awesome is that? A book that never fucking ends!
You know that feeling you get when you are reading the last chapter of an engrossing, brilliant novel - a novel that you haven't been able to put down from the very beginning. You can't wait to get to the last page. You read the last chapter like lightening. You scan over the words on the page faster and faster to find out how it will all end. Then when you get to the final sentence and all is revealed, its like a such an anti-climax....it has all ended.
Its a bitter-sweet moment. I always wish I could re-read the book without knowing what is going to happen.
With blogging you don't have that feeling...its NEVER ends...(unless the information super-highway that we call the interwebs crashes and is no more) Like THAT is ever gonna happen?!?!
I love learning more and more about a person by following their blog and reading old posts. I love going back to their archives and seeing how they're blog has come about and how its has evolved.
If you think about your own Blog and what you say in each post - its quite a personal thing. Its like my blog's name - its A Peek Into Our Lives...Perhaps is a secret voyeristic fettish I have. Hmmmm will have to look into that one..
Blogging is my way of expressing myself and I'm sure most bloggers feel the same.... Its my very own wee Soap Box. My platform to share my shit and swear if I wanna! People's opinions facinate me - how they express themselves facinates me, what words they choose facinate me and social networking and communication in general facinate me.
Well Hi there, I'm A Daft Scots Lass and I'm a Blogohoic...

Blog Till You Drop!
Step aside Facebook, Diggit, Bebo...blogging is my addiction.
My blog often gives me sleepless nights as I get an idea when I'm in bed at night half asleep (this is when I get my best thoughts, memories and ideas) and then by morning I've forgotten it. I get so cross with myself so I've started keeping a notepad and pen next to my bed at night in case I am lying there with thoughts and ideas...
Last night was a perfect example. I had clear recollections of living in Scotland and flashbacks of memories of family - what things looked like, how things smelled, what was said, etc. I knew if I went back to sleep, I'd forget all those thoughts and feelings so I got up at 2am this morning, went outside on the patio for a smoke and started writing. I went through two smokes and eventually got back to bed at 3:13am.
Silly or wot?
Anyway, this got me thinking...the blog of mine has taken lots of time and effort and that I share loads of stuff here and on my other Blog "A Daft Scots Lass". This site is my new creation since I started tracing ancesters and building my family tree. I've now gone back 18 generations and I'm addicted to that too. I can't wait to get my family tree up and running on an image so that I can share it with everyone. There are so many interesting people in my family (now and then) and so many stories to tell. I just can't file the information away quick enough. My way of filing it away (so that I can get some sleep at night) is to blog it.
So this is my daily dose of drivel for you...
Wikapedia has nothing on me...
So those of you who have NOT started blogging yet, shame on you!
Get a blog address and start blogging today...can't wait to see them all.
Don't forget to forward me the links on gillian@homemakers-sa.co.za so that I can follow you and read what you have to say too.
