Vuvuzela [pronounced voo-voo-zella] A long plastic trumpets blown by South African fans at football games, which are being talked up as the 12th man of the host team because they have the effect of deafening their opponents.
South Africans may be a conservative and reserved nation, but when it comes to supporting their favourite sports, they turn into instant hooligans. And Hooligans with a really loud plastic trumpet, can become quite a fekkin' pain in the arse.
In some countries the vuvuzela is banned because of its noise levels. Nine English Premier League clubs have banned the device, they say due to health and safety reasons, I think its just coz its fucking annoying.
But its dead fun to play when you've had a few drinks to frighten your friends and neighbours!
Usage : I thought I heard an angry swarm of bumblebees, but it was only the sound of vuvuzelas playing at the World Cup.
Yeah, the vuvuzela has been compared to the porn star, Jenna Jameson - plastic, horny and makes a hell of a noise whilst blowing.

Blow Me!
With only 2 days to go before 2010 Fifa World Cup Soccer kick off, today is the day that the entire country will come to a stand still at midday for five minutes in order to blow our Vuvuzelas in celebration.
So, at noon, stop what you are doing, get your Vuvuzelas and blow on it like never before. If you are in the car, hoot and let the sound be heard from Cape to Mpumalanga to Natal and from Natal to Limpopo!
The Vuvuzela moment is here, let it be felt.
This is our year to shine and shine we will.
Viva of Bafana Bafana!

2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup Count Down
27 Days to go before the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup kicks off in South Africa.
Not that I'm an avid soccer fan, and not that I'll be going to any of the matches either, but I do watch my 7 year old Megan play Under 7's at AFC with great enthusiasum. I normally come back from her matches horse and completely pumped up.
Everywhere you go at the moment in South African people are participating in Football Fridays at work - where instead of our usual casual clothes on a Friday, we adorn our Soccer Civies and wear our South Africa colours. People get very creative with their outfits...
At least 5 out of 10 ten cars on the road at the moment are decorated with South African flags attached to their arials, Makarabas on the back boards, car mirror flag covers in the SA colours and plenty other patriotic paraphernalia.

I think its brilliant! It nice to "stand together" and be one nation supporting our team. Most of us know our team won't get very far but we're supporting them nevertheless. Go Bafana Banfana!
Hey, for me, its any excuse to blow my Vuvuzela to piss off the neighbours and spook the cat, dress up like an eejit and oogle the visiting Football Eye Candy Players. Yum Yum!
I heart Soccer Hotties!

Megan vs Daddy with a Vuvuzela - Round 1
What's plastic, a metre long, brightly coloured and sounds like an elephant?
It's the vuvuzela - the noise-making trumpet of South African football fans.
We're gearing up for 2010 Soccer World Cup in our home with a competition between Megan (my six year old) and her Daddy and a very noisy blue Vuvuzela.
The deal is this...
..it all started on Sunday night when Megan was playing with her vuvuzela and I mentioned that it would be a good wake up call for someone who doens't have a regular alarm clock. Hmmmmm somehow I regret putting thoughts in her little mind. Nevertheless, it was decided between Megan and her Dad that whoever gets up first in the morning gets to "Vuvuzela" the other one awake with this annoying trumpet.
Daddy has won the game since Monday morning and Megan is not too amuzed by it all. Okay, so who wants to wake up by a vuvuzela being blown in your face when you are slumbering so sweetly?
But the game continues...
Last night Megan calls me into her room just after she'd slipped into bed and says to me: "Mum, you must wake me up early tomorrow morning so that I can get Daddy with the Vuvuzela". She promptly stuffed her Vuvuzela under her pillow and put her finger over her lips to tell me it was our little secret. I nodded in agreement knowing that Daddy would get his own back.
Well, I couldn't bear to wake her when I went into her room this morning. She was snoring so nicely so I just left her. Next thing I knew, my Boerewors was looking for the Vuvuzela and he snuck into her room looking for the dreaded horn. He eventually found it and blew Megan awake. Poor wee thing.
They giggled and Megan is determined to get her dad back tomorrow morning. This time I will help her otherwise I'll be in the bad books again. I am already in grave trouble for not waking her this morning. I had the pouty face all the way to school. I'm such a bad mother...
Man! is that thing damn loud!!!
Stay tuned for Vuvuzela at the Hefer House - Round 2.
