Winter Wonderland

Hubby had his Year End Function on Saturday night and what an event it was! Over 3100 people from EOH gathered together to party in a Winter Wonderland.

I had done the Sisters With Blister 8km Walk that morning (in 5½ inch wedges) so my feet were killing me. I wore my slippers until we got to the parking lot of the venue.  I wanted to cry when I put my shoes on my feet were so swollen and tender!

The Party Goers

We arrived at 6:30 for Pre-Dinner Cocktails and were met my a massive hall with four podiums and on each on of them was a performing artist of sorts.  It took me about 20 minutes to realise this person was actually a young lad with an invisible penis and marble-sized scrotum!

The others were fire blowers and ribbon twirlers and contortionists. At each corner of the hall they had set up mini photo stations where professional photographers had various Winter Wonderland scenes set up with snow machines, smoke machines. Very posh indeed.

The food was terrific the company was boring and stiff but I was very proud of myself - I didn't say Fuck once the entire night.  I was on my best behaviour.  The entertainment was brilliant!  Our MC was comedian Loyiso Gota and the South African Idols Top 3.

After dessert the nightclub and dancing was opened up and everyone parties until the wee hours.

CANSA Shavathon was a Success!

Myself and two friends went to the Lambton Shopping Centre in Germiston to volunteer for the 2010 CANSA Shavathon and we met lots of awesome people!

We had one lady with long hair who shaved everything off and donated her pony tail to CANSA for making wigs for cancer survivors.  It was awesome and a lot of us were in tears when she shared her story of why she was doing it.

All in all a successful but tiring day on my feet...lots of heads were shaved and sprayed for the CANSA organisation.  I hope they raised LOADS of funds.

Tonight is our Whimsical Wonderland 30th birthday party which we've been looking forward to for ages.  Will post pics of that one tomorrow.  All I want to do now is soak my feet, get into a bath and relax before the party tonight.

Lots of dancing, lots of new people to met and possibly lots of shots!

Whimsical Wonderland Party

The Whimsical Wonderland 30th Birthday Party was awesome.

Jo (the birthday girl) had gone to LOTS of trouble and had thought of every little detail from the decor, the music, how the food and champagne was presented.  We felt transformed into a different world.  It was Out of This World!

I had tons of fun getting ready and dressing up.  I completely changed my costume from what I originally planned and I'm glad I did.  This little number was much more appropriate.  My boerewors and I danced the night away...

Here's some of the pix I took.  I didn't take many as Jo had a friend at the party who does professional photography so I reckoned I would get a few images from her eventually.

The Venue

They had a Slide Show of Jo Through The Ages
looping on a flatscreen on one side of the room.

The three-tiered cake (middle) - yes its all edible
Loads of whacky cupcakes (which were to-die-for-delicious)
and "The Sweetie Shop" at the back

At "The Sweetie Shop" you could fill your funky little bag
or cup with an assortment of brightly coloured sweeties.
Oh yes, enough sugar for an army

Pink! Pink! Everywhere!

Whimsical Wonderland

I've decided on a costume for Jo's party...

Alice in Wonderland.

I want to go with a combination of these outfits.  I like the stripey tights and not the stockings...I think I'll be pulling the stockings up all night long which will irritate the crap outta me.

What do you think?
