Ali G Turdsday...Aaaai!

Big up Yaself!

I've loved Ali G since 2001, when I discovered his first film In Da House...I think its cleva and VERY funny.  He then went on to create new characters like Bruno (the Austrian gay drama queen reporter) and Borat (a reporter from Kazakhstan) which I didn't find as funny as Ali G...I still love to watch his stuff.

Booyakasha, For Real!

Watch and enjoy...Wicked!

my eyes filled with tears watching the Dying Swan

The Imperial Russion Ballet Company were SPECTACULAR! I couldn't have asked for a better birthday gift from Mick and Janie. It was out of this world.

The first half of the show was full of drama, heavy opera music and non-traditional comptemporary ballet which I really enjoyed as it was so different and like NOTHING that I'd seen before.

The second half of the show was scenes from all the traditional ballets, Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet all on pointe. It was phenominal. The athleticism and strength of the men and the technical ability and gracefulness of the women -it was TOP CLASS and quite clearly the BEST of the BEST.

The years of practise from these talented artists was pure perfection and seriously took my breath away. My eyes were twinkling, my heart was dancing and The Dying Swan from Swan Lake brought tears to my eyes. All the lights were turned out, the music began and one spotlight shon on a sole ballerina with her ice-white tutu on pointe. She was breath-takingly beautiful, flawless in her dance and spent almost 3 minutes on pointe. It was so moving - you could feel the emotion in her movements and the sadness in her dance... I was balling like a baby.

It was just magnificently brilliant. The dancers showed so much character and comedy in their dance. In one scene one of the men dancers came on dressed in the traditional women's ballet tut and point shoes and danced like I'd never seen before. A man on pointe? All tongue in cheek of course but it blew me away...

My sister didn't feel up to going at the last minute as she'd gone to the gynae the day before and the doc told her to slow down and take it easy. So, I VERY GLADLY took my mum who enjoyed it just as much as I did. By the end of the performance our hands were throbbing from all the applause. How could you NOT applause such perfection and talent??

A huge thanx to Mick and Janie for the best night out with my mum...it was so very special.

Don Quixote.
These two were born to tell a story through dance

Weekend Plans

Well I am planning to cheer my Boerewors up this weekend as he started his new job on Wednesday and is desparately unhappy. He knows now he's made a grave mistake and was almost in tears last night talking to me about it. I could see the regret in his face, I could see the disappointment in his eyes. I really feel for him.

I think we've all made the same mistake at some point in our lives. We all taken a crappy job not listening to the little voice of doubt peeping inside your head like a reversing truck. We still plunge ahead and look positively into the unknown - just to find out you've been whacked on the back of the head with a plank. And it HURTS! Its a horrid feeling (not the getting whacked on the back of the head) but the thoughts of "geezo WTF was I thinking?!?!". You start questioning your judgement and playing different scenarios through in your head. You start playing "Tough Love" with yourself and Tut to yourself, shake your head over and over and lower your eyes feeling shame and sadness. I just wish I could make it all betta for him...

Tomorrow I'm going to the Imperial Russian Ballet at the Civic Theatre with my sister. Yes, my sister who had her baby this time last week! She said she's feeling up to it and can't wait to get out a little. Because she's had a c-section, she can't drive so I'll be playing the role of chaueffeur, which I don't mind at all. It means I have my sister to enjoy the ballet with me!!! I don't have to go one my own. I just wish I could take my Mum too.

On Sunday I'm hoping to jam on top volume some Guitar Hero World Tour and see if I can beat the battle to complete the second part of Hard Level. I'm just hoping the girls give me a couple of hours to enjoy the game before they start whining and crying and tearing the house down...Perhaps someone can "gooi" me a Platinum Membership so I can play GHWT on-line. How awesome would that be??

Will share some Ballet pix next week.

and the gifts roll in....

My birthday is coming up very soon and my sweet sister knows how much I love the ballet and bought me two tickets to the Imperial Russian Ballet Company!!
The Russian Ballet Company is AWESOME!!!. They are one of the most successful and well known ballet companies in Moscow. Their repertoire consists of a number of outstanding full-length classical masterpieces together with certain aspects of modern choreography in some of their works.
I can't wait!!!!
The only dilema I face now, is , who do I take with me????
