55 Flash Fiction Friday - Episode 5

Join me in playing this writing game with hundreds of other bloggers including G-Man  on Fridays, called 55 Fiction Fridays, or 55 Fridays. The idea is to write a complete story in only 55 words.

So, get your pen poised and either write a 55 word story on your own blog, or you can post it in my comments below.  Its all good.

They're not love handles!
No.
I've got love impact protection barriers.
And they’re all mine!
I have proudly cultivated them
over many years
And proud to say
they cost me a small fortune
KFC
Pizza
Nandos
Maccie D’s
It doesn’t come cheap anymore.
Having two kids did contribute.
The price you pay for awesomeness...

Thursday Ponderings

  • Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
  • I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.
  • There is great need for a sarcasm font.
  • How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
  • Was learning cursive really necessary?
  • Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
  • Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
  • I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.
  • Bad decisions make good stories.
  • You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.
  • I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.
  • "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this ever.
  • I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damnit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice mail. What did you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?
  • I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.
  • I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
  • I think the freezer deserves a light as well. Ever heard of midnight ice-cream cravings?
  • Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the heck was going on when I first saw it.
  • I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.
  • I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
  • How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?
  • I love the sense of comaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent an asshole from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!
  • Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.
  • Is it just me or do high school kids get dumber and dumber every year?
  • There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far..
  • As a driver I hate pedestrians and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists. 50 points a pop!
  • Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.
  • Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet my arse everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time!

Refound Love of Heels

Many years ago BK (before kids) I wore an array of heels which I have either given away or they disintigrated in my cupboard by collecting dust.

Lately I have found my love for heels again and I'm becoming quite obsessed about it.  I love surfing for new styles and am really enjoying the designer sites too (not that I'll ever be able to afford a designer pair) but I can admire and boy do I.

My favourite pair of Jimmy Choo collection

Love this Flower Shoe by Prada

Love this two-tone pair of heels
This pair of Aldo's rocks my world!

Recently I bought this black pair of sandals....and I love them!

Show Your Best Side - Blog Challenge

Pink Hair Girl handed out a blog challenge lately and it really struck a cord with me.  I love taking photos, I take my camera wherever I go and I have thousands of pictures of my family and friends and other random shite.  Now, because I'm usually the one behind the Canon taking the photos, I don't have as many shots of  me than my precious peeps.

And.... many of us hate photos of ourselves.  I know certainly do.  I almost always end up deleting half of them or photoshop the mole on my face out because I hate it so much.  I normally point out how many wrinkles you can see and the fact that my face is so assemetrical.  I see many flaws that no one else seems to care about.

The challenge is to blog 5 pictures of yourself that you really like, and say 5 things you like about yourself. Then nominate 5 other bloggers to dig into their photo collection and lets share our better side. It can be so hard to appreciate ourselves but I think it is health to find things we like about ourselves.

I did this photoshoot as a present to my hubby
before I lost 8kg and even still I was still happy with the results.
I thoroughly enjoyed this shoot and I felt very sexy that day.

This is my favourite photo of my Boerewors and me
(even though I'm not wearing a stitch of make up and
my eyes were scrunched up from looking into the sun)
We were sitting outside enjoying the sunshine and Megan pointed the camera at us,
My Boerewors put his arm around me and I was content and happy.
You can feel the love in this shot.

I love my girls and pictures with them are so special
If I can cuddle them both at the same time and capture that moment on a photo, I'm happy!

This picture was taken by Megan who was probably about 3½ at the time.
I love it for two reasons - because Megan took it and
it was one of those call-yer-name-and-you-turn-around surprise snaps

This is also one of my favourites because it includes my precious mum and sister.
I love them both very dearly and this picture shows how much I love them.

The five things I like about me:

1.  I like my sense of humour and my ability to make others laugh and feel good about themselves.
2.  I like my long eyelashes and blue eyes.
3.  I consider myself a strong woman with an unwavering point of view
4.  I am resiliant and resouceful.  I make it happen and I have a plan.
5.  I am unique.

I now pass this Photo Blog Challenge on to five others to do the same.  I can't wait to see your favourite five pictures. I nominate:
