| Spot the Temporary Ink |
Unlike my fucking kick-arse temporary tattoos that you can win on my blog, South Africa is holding a 2013 Tattooathon.
The
Tattooathon is about getting inked, having fun and doing it for a good cause: helping kids beat cancer!
During March 2013, Tattooathon will be colouring skin around SA.
Why I hear you say?
Firstly, it’s for a good cause, namely
CHOC.
The CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA was established in 1979 by a
parent group in Johannesburg. The organisation does not receive funding
from government and rely heavily on donations from caring corporates,
individuals and parents of children with cancer. Donations and fund
raising projects like Tattooathon are therefore the lifeblood of the
organisation.
Secondly, if you’ve got a tattoo you’ll
know that familiar itch of looking for an excuse to get another one.
Last year, the first Tattooathon raised over R70,000.00, sprouted
from a simple idea: encourage people to get tattooed, raise funds for
kids battling cancer and alter the stigma attached to having a tattoo.
From concept to money in the bank, this outcome was achieved in 5 weeks.
This level on enthusiasm lead the organisers to fully embrace the
possibility that the Tattooathon event could, in fact, become more than a
fun local event.
