Hard Times Will Always Reveal True Chommies

Happy Day No. 3, Pretty Plonkers and that means today is the letter C.

I think the most diverse thing in South Africa is our culture. They don't call us "The Rainbow" national for nothing.  With eleven official languages and so many ethnic and cultural differences, South Africans pride themselves on their hospitality.

Chommies [pronounced ch-om-eez] is today's Southafricanism, if you haven't realized it yet.  Chommies is a term meaning "friend" or "buddy", which originates from isiXhoas, one of SA's 11 official languages, which also happens to be Mandela's home language.

South Africans love making new Chommies, we love entertaining our Chommies and we know the importance of Chommies!  I know I certainly do, and I don't forget to tell my friends how much they mean to me and how much I love them.  I couldn't live without my friendships.

Usage :  "Howzit!  I'll be drinking with my chommies, wanna join us?"

17lbs Loss. Mind you, that's like throwing a deckchair off the fucking Queen Mary

Yesterday we went to friends to hang out for a burger braai and drink wine because I had the worst week at work - EVER!  I figured if I was gonna drink wine, I better limit my food calorie intake otherwise the scales are going to be up.

We were in the pool, glass of wine in hand, best stress relief in the world! The girls got to shoot some paintballs

Emma Pup - we have a new nickname for her because she has one ear that sticks straight up like the Foxy in her and one ear that flops down like her dad, The Pug.  We call her Flip-Flop.

Wikus' 21st at Brazillian Grill Restaurant

Wikus celebrated his 21st Birthday at the Brazillian Grill in Edenvale and I took the girls along because I knew there was going to be some Latan American dancing on display.  Turns out the dancers couldn't make it, so we had to make the party all on our own.  Mission accomplished and we had so much fun AND the food was awesome.  I've never seen so much meat served up in my life!!!  It was a sin!

Walk The Table

A bunch of friends got together today to move a big picnic table.

It was too big to put in a trailer and too small to hire a van.  We only had to move the table one block from one friends house to another (about 400 meters down the street).

So, Mandy organised all the men in our circle of friends to meet at 8am this morning and help carry it down the street.  We dismantled the top and carried the bottom piece first and then a second trip did the top piece.

When we were all done, Mandy made us a lovely brunch which made it all worth while.

Thanx for everyone's help with Walking the Table!

Sunday Stuff

Yesterday we had friends over for a braai and it was lovely to have friends altogether. The girls were in the Jacuzzi most of the day and we karaoked with the Black Eyed Peas. My sister, Janie and Mick came over with Claire too, which was lovely.

Here are some of the pix
