Happy Tootsies
Skinny Bitches in the Making recently had a giveaway on her blog and all I had to do was tell them a funny shoe story. I told her about the time that I had to walk over a 1km through the veld in four inch heels because my car wouldn't start.
I won! I'm on a winning streak, Plonkers! Wanna rub my magic lamp?
Smiling Feet are a range of gel cushions that alleviate the pressure of all those beautiful heels. Now I have an excuse to go heel shopping. Pity I can't afford a pair of Louboutins.

Friday Follower #4 and a Shoegasm
Jesse over at NOT WORTH MENTIONING is totally Whack-a-Doodle and has one of the funniest blogs in Bloggerville.
Seriously, every post of his makes me either cringe or laugh out loud. He fancies himself as a bit of a drinker and I love hearing about his drunken train trips.

Here's was J-Man had to say for himself.
Now that I’m married (to a WAY shorter person), I have no problem admitting to this past hidden, fashion accessory. My driver’s license says I’m officially 5’ 5”.
Truth be told, I’m 5’ 4 ¾”. A height that very much SUCKED when dating. I did one of those online “connect with girls” sites (rhymes with PlayDATE). When it came to my profile, I did fudge that little fact. I think I said I was 5’ 6”-ish. As guys, there are all kinds of things we can do to keep the “good looking” illusion alive when meeting face-to-face. Wear vertical stripes or dark colors for a slimming effect. Leave the shoulder pads in the jacket. Stuff like that.
However, it’s hard to fake 5’6”.
Best I could do was get there early, and be seated before she arrived. Then I’d do the obligatory half-stand when she got to the table (to conceal, yet make it seem like I was chivalrous).
Thankfully, halfway through my dating slump, I discovered the Richlee company (designers of elevator shoes since 1939). On the site you’ll find pretty much any type of shoe style. And they honestly look like regular shoes. Casual, dress, sports, sandals – they've got 'em all. The one difference being is that they have an insert inside to give you that extra lift. How much? It changes, depending on the shoe. They list the inch lift in the shoe description.
Back in the day, I had bought the Nubuck Plain Toes that gave me an extra 2.5”. Might not seem like a lot to you tree people, but that’s putting me in the 5’7” range – an inch past my imaginary height. I was finally able to fake tall. At least 'til it was a beach date.

If you do wind up buying a pair, there are two things you should keep in mind.
1.) At times they are a bit tricky to balance in. The insert tends to move around. It's sorta like walking in heels (so I’ve heard).
2.) The insert also weighs your feet down. Not by much, but after walking a while it’ll give you quite a workout.

All in all, Richlee makes a quality shoe that I'd totally recommend. A bit expensive, but then again, it's a small price to pay for a BIG 2.5 inches.

Neurologist
We want to have her properly diagnosed for Asperger’s Syndrome because she is going into Grade R next year and I want to be prepared for the possibility that she may not be able to attend mainstream school. I want a proper diagnosis from a professional who can recommend what next step to take. Whether is Occupational Therapy or Speech Therapy…we want to give her the best opportunity at being able to attend a mainstream school without too much stress and pressure on her capabilities.
Kaylin is a smart little girl but she shows no interested in learning how to do things properly. When you try and “teach” her something. For example: Kaylin, this is how your draw a square. Can you try too?”. She will NOT do it. To make her sit in a chair and concentrate on something is virtually impossible – unless SHE wants to do it. Then she will spend hours doing the same thing over and over and over. She loves Jigsaw puzzles, building blocks, writing her name over and over but not taking any guidance from anyone if the letters are written incorrectly. She wants to do is HER way.
I must admit though, as time has gone on, from the time we were first told about Asperger’s and that our Kaylin has most of the symptoms, she has improved over the last year. In fact, some of the symptoms and characteristics have diminished and her behaviour now points more towards ADD or ADHD.
This is a subject to don’t know too much about and how it differs from Asperger’s Syndrome.
I only hope that the Neurologist will be able to identify it promptly. We have waited almost 3 months for this appointment and so much anticipation has been placed upon it. I just want to stay calm so that Kaylin doesn’t arrive feeling stressed and ready to perform. I just want to keep her relaxed and happy.
