Boy-Nip Bailey

I was dead chuffed when Bailey Schneider agreed to do an interview for my wee blog.

Bailey is a radio presenter and somewhat of a celebrity around these parts, who has just finished a 7 year stint at 94.7 Highveld Stereo Afternoon Drive Show. She is also a voice-over artist, MC, a pretty snazzy photographer and a dedicated blogger, over at Vanilla Blonde.

Bailey has recently starting with 2oceansvibe radio weekdays from 2 until 3 with her very own The Bailey Schneider Show.  She's gonna rock that joint!

Bailz is obviously drop-dead gorgeous.  Hell, she is like Cat-Nip for boys.  She is Boy-Nip.

Not only does she bring all the boys to the yard with her long golden locks and "Little Miss Sunshine" attitude, but she is a super special person with a true heart of gold.  She is driven, focused and achieves what she puts her mind to.  Bailey is a girlie-girl after my own heart; she loves Toblerone chocolate, vanilla tea and shoes.

What got you started in blogging?

I absolutely LOVE writing and photography.  I also love technology and the internet, so what a great way to combine them all on a blog. I never started blogging to gain a following, it was purely an outlet for me to write about what I want, photograph things and to be creative.  The fact that it has a great following that is growing all the time is thrilling.  It’s created a blogging family and I’ve “met” so many wonderful people from all over the world. I’m humbled that people click onto my blog, read AND comment.

Whats one of your favourite things about where you live and what you do?

I love Johannesburg for so many reasons. It’s a driven city and it’s alive. It’s like the New York of Africa. I love the sunsets, the climate, the people, the fashion and the fact that you can be in the heart of the city and then 20 minutes later, you can be in the middle of the bush looking at wild animals.
I adore what I do. I have the biggest passion for broadcasting. I get a rush switching on that microphone or standing in front of the camera and entertaining. I love that it’s creative, dynamic, never the same and 70% of the time unscripted, making life interesting and fun. I can’t do boring and this certainly isn’t.

If you could be something different from what you do, what would it be?

An author. I would love to write novels and get paid for it. I also think there is a secret “pop star” inside me. I guess I’m a born entertainer – one way or another.

Your favourite place in the world?

I could be clichéd and say anywhere my friends and family are … and as clichéd as it is, it’s 100% true!
Places would be my home, my family home, Switzerland (my family and heritage is there and I adore the country), the ocean and being out in nature – it rejuvenates my soul.

If you had one day to live what would you do?

I would spend it with my closest friends and family and I would spend it on the beach (rejuvenating ocean.) I’d eat delicious food and let everyone important to me know how important they are and thank them for the amazing times I’ve had in my life.

What are you reading right now?

I’m reading the latest Karen Rose novel – No One Left To Tell. I recently got to meet her and she is awesome.

Whats on your iPod?

Everything from jazz to hard rock. I love music – it’s such an important element in my life. Even though I love all types of music, I’m not a huge fan of country music or opera but I’ll handle it in small doses.

Three random things about you.

1.) I know this is weird, but I can make the exact sound of a newborn baby cry with my throat.
2.) I have a thing about even numbers. My volume levels on my TV or radio must be even numbered and whenever I look at the time it’s normally 11:11 or 09:09 or 22:22, you get the idea. It’s bizarre, but I’ve read that it’s an angelic sign, so I always thank God and the angels for something good in my life.
3.) I’m allergic to aubergines, plums and apricots (but I can eat the dried fruit or jam, just not the actual fruit.)

If you had to write a book or make movie about you and your life – what would it be called and who would you choose to play you?

It would be called “Little Miss Sunshine.” And I’d get Kate Hudson to play me– I totally identify with her bubbly personality.

Dinner with three people dead or alive. Who and why?

My grandfather – I never met him and from what I’ve heard, we would have got on well.
Marilyn Monroe – I’m totally intrigued.
Kingsley Holgate – I would love to listen to all his stories about his travels and his interesting life.

What could you NOT live without?

My family… specifically my mom, my dad and my sister. We are incredibly close with a unique bond and I am blessed with the most supportive, unconditional loving family.  My best friend Karolina Sky – she is my soul sister. We speak a few times a day and normally see each other every second day. She knows me better than I know myself sometimes and is unconditionally supportive and encouraging.
My phone and the internet.

What would you do if you were a person of the opposite sex for a day?

Hahaha… Well now…
I reckon it would give me a great insight into the pysche of a guy and what they really want – although I may be scarred afterwards. LOL.

If you could go back in time, what is the one thing you would change?

This is interesting… I can think of a few things I’d like to change, like making better decisions on some things and ending dodgy relationships much earlier etc… but the reality is I believe that everything happens for a reason. Good and bad - it’s all there to shape you as a person. It’s made me grow, made me realize what I want and don’t want etc. If something had to be changed, it would change who I am today.

What is the one achievement that makes you the most proud?

Graduating and getting my BA Journalism degree.
Being nominated for an MTN Radio Award and People Magazine Best Newcomer Award

What’s your favorite color?

Red – it’s a pick me up and I always feel invincible when I wear red – even if it’s on my finger nails or lips.

Define the word sexy.

Oozing your own, unique essence and confidence.

Thank you again Bailey for agreeing to be interviewed for my wee blog. I'm honoured and thrilled to bits that you said yes!  Now Friday would not be the same without a Shoegasm or two.

Friday Follower and a Shoegasm

Yipeeeeeeee!  Its Friday and I'm featuring Chris Davis – better known as The Frog Queen has an obsession with all things Halloween and a ridiculously large frog collection, which has allowed her to control all the frogs in the world.  At least that is what she believes.

Chris is obsessed with:

♥ Halloween and all things dark and creepy
♥ Creating creepy things!
♥ Scotland – The picture of me at Flora McDonald’s grave is one of my favorite possessions.
♥ Wine…but only red. White wine….no bloody way!
♥ Stuff with skulls on it
♥ Blogging
♥ My cats…since we are childless by choice….our cats are our kids.
♥ Books – mostly Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman and Clive Barker.
♥ My Halloween friends/family

What do you think is the most interesting thing about you?
Besides me being crazy? I am completely obsessed with all things Halloween – I mean really, really obsessed. They have not committed me yet…but it is only a matter of time.

What got you started in blogging?
I love sharing my silly stories with everyone….and then it became more about sharing what I create and my travels, be it to haunt convention or graveyards around the world. I just want to share with others the how much I love the world through Halloween eyes!!

What's one of your favorite things about where you live and what you do?
This one is tricky, in my town…I love my town, but sometimes it does not love me….not everyone likes creativity….unless is really safe. Halloween decorations = not safe. But the larger town I am close to (Portland) is a lot more interesting….we have a bar that is HP Lovecraft themed…..that just makes me smile….and buy way too many drinks.

If you could be something different from what you do, what would it be?
I recently became unemployed from a very corporate job. I cannot believe the amount of people that have come to me and said that this is a sign (which….not really my thing) and I should do “Halloween” for a living. I had no idea that so many people had such faith in my creations. If I could make scary decorations for a living…..that would be a happy frog queen.

What's different about you?
Not many people follow their creative instinct in a corporate world….you either fit into the mold or not. For a long time I separated myself between both worlds. I can tell you….that will hurt you in ways you will not understand. Even though I found friends in my corporate world that “liked” what I did….I could see in their eyes that they were just waiting for me to “get over” my phase. Which, now I see, they were just waiting for me to give up…..the world does not need more of that.

On the creative side – with what I do with my friends (crew/minions) for our display is to be sure that I never make anyone doubt what they are doing….love what you create. Always, always….express yourself creatively my friends. Your heart should never be broken and resigned to a lesser fate.

Your favorite place in the world?
Call me silly – sunny and warm is what most people like. But husband and traveled around the UK looking for a perfect home…and we like rainy and cozy…so (outside of) Edinburgh or St. Andrews is where I would move today. There is this castle in Dairsie…..it is absolute heaven. It is about 20 feet from a graveyard (we stayed there a few years back)….(squeal!!!) heaven on earth!!!

If you had one day to live what would you do?
Go somewhere I have never been…..I would head to the east coast of the US and visit some friends that I only see at haunt conventions or my friend in New York who is getting his first (major musical) play produced!!

What are you reading right now?
I just got a Kindle Fire for my birthday and I have been downloading free classic books….I just finished all the Sherlock Holmes books and am now reading Poe and H.P. Lovecraft.

What's on your iPod?
I live in an area that gets no snow (very rarely) but I have the new Kate Bush CD – 50 Words for Snow and I am so wishing that it would snow outside. It is the perfect winter album from my absolutely favorite singer/song writer. Not to be compared with….but I am also a Tori Amos fan….her new CD is the best thing she had done in 10 years….I actually can listen to the whole thing without skipping a song….have not been able to say that about her music in a while. And as “comfort food” I am a huge fan of anything Finn (both Tim and Neil) I am listening to Pajama Club, the latest CD from Neil and a few friends…and Tim just released a new CD…so we are bouncing back and forth an my iPod.

Three random things about you.
1. I hate spiders….but I think anyone that follows my blog knows that….they just creep me the *&@ out!!!

2. I hate my full name “Christine” – it was not until I got older and I could call myself “Chris” that I felt like a real person.  The definition of that name could not be farther from my belief system. My family still calls me “Christine” – just to make me angry.

3. I spent way too much time at Catholic school…..that is a special kind of torture. That is why haunted houses do not scare me.

If you had to write a book or make movie about you and your life? What would it be called and who would you choose to play you?
The Haunted House…that would be the title…or The Crazy Lady. I would love have Carolyn Jones or Angelica Houston from the Addams family show/movies. Cause if we are going to go that much fiction….that is who I would love to be. Plus I really want the house!!!

Dinner with three people dead or alive. Who and why?
1. Richard Fenyman – he was a genius that was able to access the rest of the world. Not too many people on his level can/could do that.
2. Steven Fry – he just makes me want to learn more…I so wish the Qi show was here in the US! I buy all his books and TV specials….he is definitely my favorite living person obsession. (You UK people have no idea how luck you are to have him!)
3. Tim Minchin - that is completely silly of me. But I have been a big fan of UK comedy for years….and his “Predujice” song is brilliant. Also being American, having “no christian” views makes me “not normal” – I would love to talk to him and say….not all Americans are the same….really some of us have a sense of humor. Now that I think of it….can I trade Tim for….
4. Neil Gaiman – the best story teller in the whole world. I probably would spend the whole dinner bowing at his feet.

What could you NOT live without?
The Davis Graveyard crew – which I am closer than to my actual family. They are the most creative and supportive people in the world. I am so lucky to have them in my life….and after that…black paint. Use about 20 gallons of it a year.

What would you do if you were a person of the opposite sex for a day?
I would talk to women and try to understand how men see them and maybe shed some light on our difference on communication. And then I would…..

If you could go back in time, what is the one thing you would change?
I had a very close friend that lost her son (and our friend) in a fire. Of all the gifts in the world I could give anyone….I would give her, her son back. I know that she misses him everyday of her life….to take that shadow off her heart…..I would give almost anything.

What is the one achievement that makes you the most proud?
That changes every year. But I would have to say that by creating this “being” called the Davis Graveyard, I have given a group of people the chance to be creative on a very large scale. To work alongside them creating things we almost did not believe possible….that is a constant joy to me. They never cease to amaze me!

What's your favorite color and why?
Red….it is scary and powerful….and I am a ginger, and I completely embrace the ginger!

What makes you happy?
Being around my husband….I adore that man – he is my world!

What makes you sad?
Those moments when I did not stand up for my (or someone elses) creative self.

Define the word sexy.
Someone that loves themselves without needing proof or verification from the world. You are what you believe you are…really, it is just that simple. Do not hide your light under a bushel!!

And now to get us in Friday party mood, here's a few Hooka Heels to get your drooling and dribbling...

Thought it would be appropriate to share these stunning heels seeing as I'm still on my Dukan Diet.  Aren't they sweet? and they're made by my favourite shoe designer Christian Louboutin, of course?

Friday Follower and a Shoegasm

/

TGIF Plonkers.

Today's featured Friday Follower is Cin from Cinnamon's Spicy Life. Cin is a wife, mom, sister, friend, lifestyler and all-round smart ass with a heart of gold. Here is what she had to say.
Let me be perfectly clear about one thing.  I have never been a “true” feminist, nor a beauty queen. And I don’t think you could be both at the same time anyway.  I’m sure that this is fairly obvious if you have ever met me, but I just thought you should know it up front.  When I was in the Air Force, my job was on the flight-line.  I worked on fighter aircraft.  Pretty much a man’s job back then, but when I entered the service there was a big push to get women into that field.  Just call me a guinea pig I suppose.  But I took the job and did it to the best of my ability.  I did not ask the other guys to carry my toolbox for me, or use “monthly” excuses to get out of work.  I tried to lead by my example.  I saw many women that did try to use their femininity to their advantage.  That used to piss me off to no end.  But men are stupid sometimes and they were easily manipulated by some of these girls.  Anyway, although not a feminist, I did believe, and still do, that women can do anything that men can do, with some limitations.  Now, on with the story.

Before I arrived at Randolph Air Force Base, the maintenance squadron had NEVER had anyone that they could enter in the yearly “Miss Randolph” contest.  All the “boys” in my shop thought that it would be a hoot if I entered.  And I fought with them about it, until my First Sargent asked me into his office to persuade me to think about it.  I told him that I would enter the damn thing, but if I did, it was because he really thought I had a chance, and that it wasn’t some kind of a joke.  He told me that they would be happy if I represented them.  So, I said yes.  I secretly was thrilled to even get asked about it. Once I have decided to do something though, it’s going to be done to the absolute best that I can.  I became obsessed with the idea.

The first stage of the competition was just an interview with the judges.  I dressed nice and used my best manners.  There were over 200 girls trying out for this.  If I didn’t make the finalists, I would have at least felt like I was in good company.  So when word came down that I had indeed made the ten finalists, I was over the moon.  I had a week to get prepared for the pageant.  That meant getting a gown of some kind, learning how to walk without falling over my number “tens”, and coming up with something clever to say during the final questioning of the judges. Things went bizarre from there.

It was the middle of winter, I was white as a ghost, so I wanted a little color.  I took a few bucks and bought a sun lamp.  One of those old kind that had a timer on it.  I thought I could get a little color on my face at least since I wasn’t that great with makeup.  Unfortunately, I sat in front of the thing while watching a show on t.v.  I burnt the hell out of one side of my face.  Oh my gosh, did that hurt.  And I looked stupid too.  And there was five days until the show.  I had to answer questions about the sunburn while out shopping for the dress.  I found one that looked alright, but not really what I wanted.  It’s always been hard to find a dress because I’m so tall.  But it would do. I already had an outfit for the “sportswear” part of the show, so I was set. Thank God, there wasn’t a swimsuit competition.

I knew that my only “ace in the hole” was the answer that I would give to the judges final question. For some reason, I was convinced that they would ask me what I liked most about being a woman on the flightline.  My gut told me that since I was the first one that had been asked to represent maintenance, that they would ask me about that.  So, I practiced my answer.  I would tell them all about how I thought women could be an integral part of all the fields in the Air Force.  That we could do the hard work just the same as the guys. That my technical school had prepared me for the hard work. How I was proud to serve and be a good example for the women coming behind me.  All that kind of jazz.  Yeah, I had that nailed down.

The night of the pageant came.  The guys from my shop were in the audience.  My Commanding officer and First Sargent were there.  The pressure was HUGE.  I made it through the sportswear section without falling off the stage into someone’s lap.  Then came the walk down the runway in my evening dress.  Well, as you can see from the picture, I forgot to take off my stupid work watch.  It didn’t really enhance the dress. And although I had brought a really nice necklace to wear.....I forgot to put it on.  When I got to the microphone for my last question from the judges, I was ready.  And then they asked, “Airman Jones, what is the greatest thing about working with aircraft?”  Perfect question right?  And I had my answer all ready right?  I could tell them how proud I was to be working with America’s greatest aircraft, how the responsibility for millions of dollars of hardware was entrusted to me and my training had been superb and I could handle it.  Did I say that?  No.  Did I come anywhere close to saying my somewhat “feminist” answer? Nope.  What did I say? Oh, I turned into the dumbest girlie girl you can imagine.  And I said, “ What do I like the best about working with aircraft? The pilots. And the way they look in their flight suits”.

I could have fallen through the floor right there.  It got a huge laugh, and some applause, but I felt like I had betrayed myself.  I think I was calling myself an idiot the whole way back to the backstage.  The other girls were smiling and laughing, they liked the answer.  But not me. Ugh I was so mad at myself.

Of course I didn’t win.  We knew it was pretty much rigged that an officer chick would win.  I was happy to have competed, but I got ribbed about that final answer for a long time.  And even now, when I hear that game show host say, “Is that your final answer”, I want to jump up and say, “No, I take it back, dammit !”.

Friday Follower, a Shoegasm and a Dukan Diet Update

This week's featured Friday Follower is Heather.  A courageous mother, wife and survivor of mesothelioma cancer.

I was born an optimist. I have spent my whole life looking on the bright side and I've gotten more out of life because of that. I was on top of the world when my only child was born, at the age of 36. Just three and a half months later, I was plunged into the darkest time period of my life when I was diagnosed with a deadly form of cancer. Seeing the good in everything, looking for hope in the darkest situation, is what got me through and helped me gain from my cancer, instead of sing.

My diagnosis of malignant pleural mesothelioma came on Nov 21, 2005. Like every other young, healthy person, the diagnosis put me in shock. It took me a while to get a hold on the reality of the diagnosis, but once I did, I realized I had a choice. I could give up. That would be easier, more realistic, wouldn't it? Or I could fight this with everything that I have to the last. And that's what I decided, because I am an optimist, willing to look for the best in everything, and because I am a mother, with an unbreakable desire to be there for my daughter.

While cancer is an undeniably terrible thing, there is a good side. Not exactly a good side, but all of the bad brings about good things. It changes you, and if you are an optimist, it will change you for the better. Cancer forever changed who I am, for the better. I believe the positive change came from my attitude towards the cancer and all that happened because of it. I refused to be a victim, refused to be afraid. I didn't focus on myself, but looked for how my cancer could help other cancer patients. I decided to live in a way that gives others hope with mesothelioma.

I was referred to the world's leading mesothelioma doctor, who gave me hope in a way that I could in turn give to others. My surgery to remove the tumor was on Groundhog Day, 2006, so I called my tumor Punxsutawney Phil. Ever since then, we've called Groundhog Day "Lungleavin's Day," because that's when I said goodbye to my lung. Every February we celebrate it, celebrating life, conquering fear and finding the good we hoped we'd find in the bad. We celebrate optimism. We celebrate hope.

Cancer brought so many amazing people into my life, the warriors and optimists who have faced mesothelioma as well. The fighters, the believers, those who hope and work to give others hope. Cancer changed my life, but it is these people who truly helped me change it for the better.

Now go and visit Heather's blog and show her some love.

Featured Friday Follower

I haven't done Friday Follower in a while.  I have a brilliant Guest Post from Rooikat.  Enjoy!

Salut à tous! My name's J a.k.a Rooikat. I'm a crazy ginger ninja, currently in France. My first blog feature!? Eeeek! I feel honored! A Daft Scots Lass found me during a Bloghop, and the pleasures of finding another crazy ginger ninja across the ocean, in SA, my home turf, made me jump with glee!
I first started up my blog back in January, when I headed over to France for research, now procrastinating and unable to finish a thesis, I’m back. Rooikat’s back. Living it up in Normandy, where cows are everywhere, the cider is flowing, apples are readily available in every size and form, and the rain comes down thicker and more sideways than a classic August day in Kaapstad.
Being so far away from home, any reminder of SA: a postcard, a youtube video, an accent, makes me smile! I often say something, or unintentionally do something, and get strange strange looks in reply and I giggle thinking: ah, being south african abroad. No-one gets it, but singing  "Tennisballe, krieketballe snoekerballe as jy wil!"   in the res parking lot with a gorgeous Italian man at 2am in the morning is just one of those priceless moments.
Living abroad is great! Everyday I try do something new and awkwardly tourist like. I attempt to not eat too many croissants, teach useful English phrases to my kids, and slowly but surely conquer the French language. A glass of vino helps! In all 3 cases :)
French, the language of looooove. Paris je t’aime! Everyone knows at least some French. «Bonjour», «Au revoir»....Its so sexy and romantic. Right?! We’re all mostly likely to have seen some French film, and swooned over *insert any man* with a sexy French accent. They are  all charming, witty and seductive non? Ah, ma chérie! All bad stereotypes aside, France is a great country, and French is an awesome language! You can say the most random thing, and it sounds perfect. Romantic and dreamy :)

In a Daft Scots Lass' «Not for the feint-hearted or Plonkers that are offended by four-letter words» style, I find it most appropriate that I impart a bit of my French knowledge with you.

But there is really only 1 word you need to know. Yes, that right plonkers. Only 1 word. Your dreams to fly to Paris, see the Eiffel Tower, and wine and dine on cheese and baguettes CAN become a reality! Forget expensive French classes. There is only one word you need to get your French on....

I hope you guys will visit J and leave her a comment or five and follow her wee bloggy. Have a great weekend!

My Fantabuloso Followers

Mr Knowitall and Nitebyrd were kind enough to send me pictures of their Daft Scots Lass Tattoos (the trick is to actually wear them G-Man!).  They will be featured forever under the Prize Plonkers tab at the top of my bloggy.

Thanx again, guys

Nitebyrd: Taken 12/03/2011 at The 16th Annual Buzz Bake Sale in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The Bake Sale was an all day rock concert with all the bands listed on the card propped in front of the beer!  Me and the tattoo had a fabulous time!

Friday Follower and A Shoegasm

A (not so) Moving Self-Portrait

First of all, let me extend a great big, sloppy, wet thank you to for featuring me on her fabulous blog.  I’ve been blogging since March, and I cannot believe the wonderful writers I have found—and A Daft Scots Lass is the cream of the crop!

This is my first blog feature, and am I excited or what?!  My blog, The (not so) Special Mother, is little more than random neuron firings of a slightly disturbed mind.  The thought process when I started my blog went kind of like this:  Write a blog, or open fire at the Wal-Mart? Well, obviously the blog was the simplest thing to do, plus I think I’d look like shit in orange, so…….here I am.

The most alarming thing about this feature was the last line of communication I received from the ol’ Scots Lass—“just remember to include some pictures.”  Uh-oh.

See, I’m very crafty at being behind the camera, and never in front of it.  I hate to show my picture to people.  But since she was so kind as to offer me this feature, I guess I’ll go ahead and put a pic or two in here for you.

There you go.  Now you see why I hate having my picture taken.

Anyway, when it comes to describing myself, I don’t know how great I am at that, either.  Most days I feel like I’m herding cats.  I’m just a stay-at-home mom of two kids, and the full-time care-taker for my disabled sister.  Everyone thinks I must be this saintly, enlightened soul, but they are, of course, wrong.  I’m a bitter, grouchy, big-mouth bitch who has still, after more years than I care to number, not learned to keep my mouth shut when I need to.

I was born, raised, and still reside in Wild, Wonderful (welfare) West Virginia. (To all of you who failed geography, yes, it’s a whole other state!)  My childhood was fairly normal, I guess.

I’ve always enjoyed writing as a means of expression, but for some reason I just always felt it wasn’t an option for an actual way of life.

But that’s the story of my life, you know?  Mistakes, then more mistakes.  I look back at the person I was, and I could kick myself right in the ass.  Nearly every single thing I thought was important as a teenager and young adult was just so much bunk.  All of my liberal, bullshit ideas had absolutely nothing to do with reality.  I’m not even going to talk about how I squandered my college career.

Having said that, I also have to add that although my ideals have matured, I have ultimately just kept becoming a more and more concentrated version of myself.  The core things that make me, well, me, haven’t changed all that much.

I’ve always been just on the outside of what everyone else would consider “normal.”  I almost never fit in with the crowd.  I’m just not one of those girls, although I’ve always had a great relationship with all of the pretty, popular girls.  Here’s a pic from my high-school days:

Anyway, I’m the same, but different, if that makes sense.  I’m a work-in-progress. But hey, aren’t we all?

Okay, okay—I know you’re not going to be satisfied unless I actually put a picture of myself on here somewhere, so count yourself among the lucky (?) few who have seen actual photographic evidence of my existence.  Wait for it……

Now I can share some adorable heels I came across this week.  Go check 'em out, steal my button and let me know you posted Hooker Heels that I can drool over.

I also wanted to ask if anyone has ever actually clicked on one of my shoe links and bought a pair of shoes that I have posted on my blog?

A Shoegasm and Friday Follower #14

Hey! Hey! It's Friday, which means its time to feature another one of my brilliant and talented followers.  This week our Friday Follower is fiesty Katie.

When Gillian asked me to guest post for her I was super stoked…but I kept thinking, what the heck do I write about? I write over at KatieTalksCarolina.com and have been blogging there for almost a year..prior to that I blogged at A Shoppers Quest for two years…I am not a newbie to blogging, but I sure can’t figure out what I really want to do as far as my blog goes. Right now I do a lot of blogging about North Carolina, although I leave out the redneck parts..you know..cause I live here.

Being born and raised in California, moving to North Carolina was a serious culture shock…I have lived here for almost 10 years, and quite frankly still am getting used to it. Maybe there is no getting used to seeing people on the news with no teeth, talking about how “My darlin’ baby mama ran away wit’ my cousn’ when we was playin’ corn hole and dranking a few beers.” Nope…just can’t get used to it.

I also tend to write a lot of sappy stuff when it comes to my mom. She has Stage 4 lung cancer with mets to her liver, and my God, I am pissed off and scared about that. Without letting all my rage and sadness show through, I do write about it occasionally because I am PISSED.

Do you get that I have a little temper? I do…but for the most part, I keep it on the down low on my blog, because no one wants to listen to someone bitch and complain every day. So I put on a smile and get the job done…unless of course we are talking about my soccer team.

Oh yea..I play soccer…I think it’s a pretty good way to let off some steam. Especially when we play the “No Name Team” And no, they can’t even think of a real name for their team…pffft..and you call yourselves soccer players…HA!

Apparently, they forgot to read the memo that we are not in the Olympics. When we win…we get….NOTHING. It’s like playing a bunch of women thugs in shorts. You want to see a chick fight? Come on down and watch us play, they never, ever leave the field without trying to fight someone. Or worse, start complaining when they are losing. Yea…go cry to the 15 year old ref about it…he cares…not.

And oh yea..it’s Friday…and guess who we are playing?
