Get Healthy Blog Hop

Stephen Tremp, L. Diane Wolfe, Michael Di Gesu, and Ninjalex aka Alex J. Cavanaugh have teamed up for a Blog Hop that focuses on health. This is an issue with many bloggers who have expressed gaining weight over the holidays and other negative health issues that they are dealing with.

Get Healthy Blog Hop;s Objective: to share with everyone something you have done that affected your health in a positive way

Some of you lovely Plonkers know that I started The Dukan Diet in January 2012.  The reason I started the diet was because I had quit smoking the year before and, in the process substituted my sucking on cancer sticks, for shoving junk in my face and picked up 13kg.

On Boxing Day 2011, this "Before" picture was taken of me in the pool and I took one look at the picture and knew I was officially a FAT CHICK.

Look, I see abs!
I hated the picture, I hated my fat arse, I detested my thick thighs and tummy rolls.  Fuck! I had more chins than a fucking Chinese telephone directory.

I decided then and there to get on to the internet, find myself a healthy eating programme and set myself some achievable goals.

I chose the Dukan Diet because I didn't have to weigh or measure any portions.  I have a pretty busy lifestyle as a working mum, so I knew I needed to choose an eating plan that I would be able to stick to.

My goal was to loose 10kg before my 40th birthday in June 2012.  I gave myself six months to loose 10kg.  That was certainly "doable".  I joined the gym and exercised at least 3 to 4 times a week.

On the 2nd of January 2012, I began The Attack Phase and in the first week I lost 2.8kg (6.2 pounds).  I was so happy and I felt great!  I had tons of energy and I moved on to The Cruise Phase.

After 44 Days, I had lost a total of 9kg, which is just under 20lbs.

After 3 months I had lost a total of 13kg (just over 2 stone).

I have kept the weight off by weighing myself everyday and if I do fall off the wagon and pick up a little, I get back on to the Attack Phase.  I must say its easier to maintain the weight loss if I'm exercising.

Feel free to ask any questions or leave a comment regarding the Dukan Diet.  I love to encourage and share knowledge about this awesome eating plan.

My Dukan Story Continues...

I quick update on my weight loss.

After 44 Days on The Dukan Diet, I have lost a total of 9kg, which is just under 20lbs.

This "before" photo was taken on Boxing Day in December and when I saw myself, that was it.  I detested what I saw but you know what?  A photo NEVER lies!  At that moment I saw myself as an official FATTY and took it upon myself to change that.

Over the next few days, I googled and researched for a realistic eating plan that I could stick to for the next six months, as I did a BMI test online which categorized me as MORBIDLY OBESE.  God that was a slap in the fucking face.  I had 15kg to loose to get back to the weight I was on my wedding day!  I must say, I was shocked but reality sunk in and I knew I had to do something.  I couldn't just keep buying bigger clothes.

I stumbled across The Dukan Diet, I wasn't sure if it was going to work for me because high protein diets never worked for me in the past.  However, now that I'm a bit older (I'll be 40 in June), I figured that I had nothing to loose.  I went to Exclusive Books bought the Dukan Diet book.  I read it cover to cover and got seriously motivated!

I created myself a vision board of what I pictured myself looking like in six month's time.  I stuck my wedding picture up at work and a picture of me in a cat suit when I was at my slimmest.  It has motivated me everyday to eat the right foods and stick to the plan without cheating.

It hasn't been easy and its still not easy.  I'm still only in the middle of the road but I'm half way there!  More than half way there, actually!

All those times when I was at a party or function and I wanted a piece of chocolate cake but refused, all those times that the girls at work brought in goodies to the office or wanted me to eat their Valentines candy.

Nope not me.

I've been working hard and pushing myself to go to gym everyday and work out a wee bit harder each time.  I can now say that I can run for 30 minutes solid on the treadmill before breaking a sweat.  Its an awesome feeling.

I have been sickeningly good - I do allow myself a glass of wine every now and then...A girl's gotta get her wine on

I was far too ashamed to share my FAT photo with the world but now that I am over half way to my goal, I don't feel THAT bad

Wish me luck for the next few months getting rid of the last 6 or 7kg.

Oh and I noticed I hit 600 followers today.

Bonus.

You guys rock my fucking face right off

Unstoppable and a Dukan Diet Update

"Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude."

- Thomas Jefferson -

I don't have a real post today.  I'm so busy at work with our up and coming Homemakers Expo and the girls going back to school and organising their combined birthday party for this weekend.

Dukan Diet Update:

Day #15 and I'm down exactly 5.1kg (11.2lbs) and going strong. I also had a big of a tummy buy yesterday and couldn't hold down much at all.  Drinking tons of water and eating loads of protein. I even had two bites of chocolate cake to celebrate my daughter's 9th birthday - my only cheat so far.

Sorry for the poor cellphone pic.  But you get the idea.  Go Meeeee!

I'm on a Whisky diet. I've lost 3 days already!

If you could choose between loosing 5kg (more or less 10bs) or receiving R1000 ($70) in cash, which one would you choose?  And why?

Its seems that 23% of us have tried or are using diet pills, 47% of us are afraid of puting on weight, 58% of us turn to food, 68% are almost always on diet.

Some of us can't even tell if we're hungry or full or just plain thirsty...we seem preoccupied with food, eating, dieting or pursuing new weight loss information.  We constantly tell each other which foods are good or bad, we say "If only I were 5kgs thinner...I'd [fill in your shitty story]".

I use food as a comfort and eat for an emotional need other than a physical hunger, I think most of us are in this slot.  Some of us feel guilty after eating because we have over-eaten and sometimes are moods are influenced by what we have eaten or not have eaten.  We constantly examine our bodies, checking out the bad areas, some of us count calories and points, some of us become exercise addicts, secret eaters, secret purgers.

Why do we battled with our relationship with food and our weight?

We need to stop obsession and listen to our bodies, find out why we have a certain relationship with food.  We need to eat to live not live to eat.  We need to stop looking at the media that dictates we all need to look like fucking sickly stick insects.

Its simple, eat three balanced nutritious meals a day, drink lots of water.  Everything in moderation.

Yes, it seems so simple and I still can't get it fucking right!

So would you choose the money or the weight?

I'd choose the weight - everytime!  Can I have more than one go?

Step Away From the Chocolate

You know me, I'm always looking for new ways to help with my weight maintenance and weight loss.  Don't you wish your figure WLD (while lying down) remained the same when you stood up? Don't you wish you could walk naked with your butt up against the wall all the time?  This way no one sees the hail damage!  Och.... my eternal battle with weight.  Why can't I be like those skinny lassies that can eat ANYTHING and stay skinny or at least puke it out.  I hate barfing so I don't think I could become bulimic, I love my chocolate too much so I can't become anorexic....I guess I'll have to rely on diet pills.

Here's my latest.  I started this morning and hopefully I can get rid of a few kilos on top of exercising.

Nu-Evo2 DuoTone is a natural lifestyle management supplement that works with a dual action. Life, today, is extremely fast paced and taking care of our health is often way down the list of priorities. Limited time makes it difficult to maintain a balanced, healthy eating and exercise programme.

Nu-Evo2 DuoTone is a natural lifestyle management supplement that works with a dual action. Life, today, is extremely fast paced and taking care of our health is often way down the list of priorities. Limited time makes it difficult to maintain a balanced, healthy eating and exercise programme.

Inulin, a fibre extracted from the endive root, helps improve digestion.

Nu-Evo2 FSD Complex - Weekender can be used for short periods of time (for example for one or two weeks or over festive or holiday periods) or only on days where an increase in fatty food intake is expected.

The Success of Simply Slim

I've been on Simply Slim natural weight loss capsules for 8 days now.  Together with watching what I eat and cutting out junk, I've lost a total of 3kg

Luckily the only side affect that I experienced was a constant dry mouth, which forced me to drink between 3 and 4 litres of water a day to quench my relentless thirst.  I won't complain about that, because I usually have to force myself to drink even half a litre a day.  I didn't experience insomnia like I experienced with many other weight loss products so, I could still get my very important beauty sleep at night.

Just thought I'd share this with everyone as it really wasn't that difficult - my appeteit was suppressed and my energy and concentration levels went up.

Wish me luck for next week!

I'm dead!

I just got back from my first day back at gym in 3 weeks. I'm physically finished. I'm dead!! and I forgot to take my water bottle so I'm so thirsty I could drink the well dry..

The scale was NOT kind to me. He told me Piggie here overdid it in the 3½ weeks I was at home stuffing my face with Christmas Cake and junk food.

I picked up 2kg!!!

I thought it would be more actually as my clothese feed quite tight. But being only 5 foot tall even 1kg shows on me. I'm still shocked that I can pick up that much so quickly. You battle your ass off to remove the weight and its so easily and quickly "found" again.

I have some S-E-R-I-A-S work to do over the next few weeks. Vigorous exercising to do and back on my eating plan.

Wish me luck!

It's Official

I am now officially down 6.2kg as of at gym yesterday.

I was dead chuffed to get on the scale and see the results.

Even with my pig out at my sister's party and the subsequent colon problem and pain this week, I still managed to loose!

Still going strong and another 5kg to go and I'll be back to my wedding day weight.

Dead chuffed...

Its Official

Chubby bubby here has officially moved past the 4kg mark with my weight loss.

I've lost 4.1kg in total since beginning of September.

I'm dead chuffed!!

Still have lots to go....

My goal is to get back to where I was when I got married and before two kiddies. I still have 7kg to go but I'd like to loose 10kg in total.

Wish me luck and if you see me - do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT offer me anything with so much as an ounce of fat in it! That includes the love of my life - chocolate.
