Blog Clean UP

I have decided to make some changes to my blog.

Oh Yes, I will still blog in my usual quirky, sassy way with colourful language (that’s just me) but the sexual content will be lessened a whole lot.

I believe the content of my blogs sends a message out about who I am and what I’m about.

Yes, I am an open-minded liberal woman but I am also a happily married wife and mum of two brilliant wee lassies who need to be considered. They are also a big part of this blog. I want my family to be able to visit the blog without feeling uncomfortable or uneasy. I may also be entering into another business venture soon and I do not want my name to be sullied in any way.

For these reasons, I will be cleaning up A Daft Scots Lass blog because this is the blog that is associated with my real name. Anyone Googling my name will find it and I don’t want to send a message that will make them doubt my integrity.

I understand that will mean losing followers and I am 100% fine with this. My blog was originally not about rounding up as many followers as possible but lately I’ve become more involved in the statistics behind it and feel that I’m getting “roped in”. I don’t want that. That is not why I have a blog. I have a blog because I want a voice. But I want it to be an accurate voice.

I hope you guys understand why I need to do this.

I may at a later stage start another anonymous blog with all the sexy stuff there…who knows where this will take me.

Normal broadcast will resume on Monday!

Good for you -- I can so relate but in the polar opposite way. Sometimes I think I censor myself too much on my blog and am currently trying to find that balance that allows me to be me without offending anyone -- especially my children and/or family.

And ahhh yes -- it is SO easy to get roped into the number aspect of blogging. I also am steering away from that!

I will follow your fabulous blog regardless!

I'll still read and follow. You write well and are incredibly funny. People that only come for "sexy" stuff will be missing out.

I'm going to be honest here m'deario and tell you that I haven't been visiting you as much as I used to because, I'm no prude but, the content of your blog was a bit too 'in your face' for my liking. So, this is good news for me but then maybe you're not bothered whether I visit or not. LOL Anyway just wanted to explain my absence and this was a good opportunity. x

That makes total sense to me. In fact, I've had to go through a similar metamorphosis with mine. I was doing the F U Fridays and was taking them a bit too far at times with my language.
No one I knew in real life ( besides a couple of close peeps ) was reading it so I could say anything I wanted. One day we were out with some mommys and one of them said, " Your blog is really funny...but I could do without the swearing and sexual content. " I never wrote anything super offensive but it suddenly clicked that I would be judged by what I wrote and sometimes what I wrote, like you said above, was not an accurate portrayal of who I was. It was me...but magnified.
I love your blog and will stick around no matter what. I think you'll find that you won't lose any followers at all. ♥

Doesn't bother me if the content is toned down. I'm sure it'll still have your clever and biting wit.

Why not join us on the Tumblr?...Plenty of mischief there.

I'm totally with you on it. We all evolve as we're blogging. When I first started, I was all about sharing information and not myself. When I finally interjected my normal sassy self, people finally "got" what I was trying to say. Us liberal gals really get the evolving process. It's the conservatives who are stale and old. Good luck on all your ventures too! This is an exciting time.

Hello.

I had wondered about your blog - it suddenly went quite sexy and i wondered what the reason for that was. not that i'm opposed to s e x at all, quite the opposite, but i did find it strange that you were mixing your family in with it all.

Completely get you and i do agree an anon blog would probably be the better way to go. Sure there are a lot of us 'moms' out there who do that.

Am reading again thanx to wireless x

Clean, dirty.... I think we all pretty much like you for who you are as well as your wit. I know I certainly will still be following, and I wish you luck on your new business venture. It will be really cool to see how that moves along!

The shortness of your last post in addition to not being able to comment on it got me really worried. But I'm glad to see you're still here, and however you would like to change your format will not affect me as a follower or reader in any way.

Love it. It is always good to have an accurate voice. Those that matter will still be there.

I went through a very similar transition at the beginning of the year with my blog. So I relate in a big way.

Go strong

xoxo

Oh whew! I'm so glad you'll still continue writing. I was worried about you.

Anyway, I'll be following you even if you wrote solely about lint trapped in the dryer. You'd find some way to make it entertaining and funny!

Cheers,
Tracy Screaming Sardine

I'm late to this party, but I've enjoyed what I've found here so far. I'll be back, regardless of content just for your biting sense of humor. Hopefully you won't go totally corporate and churchy on us....

I'll still follow your wonderful blog, Gillian. You're from Kilmarnock so I understood perfectly...!

Wow. I can totally understand your needing to make the connection from your personal and professional.

I was just reading an article where they said that some employers are having background checks done online...just as you said, discovering people's tastes and interests by what they post online.

You know what's best for you...and yeah, anonymous is always an option for the naughty stuff!

Love the shoes, btw.

@nitebyrd @Lesley @ Oilfield Trash @TS Hendrik @Crazeebee747 @htm @Hamza @SS @Mo thanx guys ♥

@Joker I'll pass...

@Autumnforest It sure is...

@Shayne that was the problem mixing it in with all my family posts - that's what made me realise that I needed to separate the saucy stuff from the family stuff. Yay wireless!!

@Diego Sousa Done! I had a few others that didn't like the red.

@Aaron @Jack I'm not changing the format, just the content :-)

@squatlo hell no. Fear not - the Fuck word will still feature just less sexual and suggestive content.

@Dazee my girl!

@Mike Killie forever!

@kathryn thats one of the many reasons...

@cat *hits the imaginary LIKE button right back atchya!

Well, I'm one conservative gal who, even though I didn't like the sexual stuff, I do enjoy reading about your life. So I popped over here now and then, despite the sexuality and profanity. I will, of course, continue to do so. I'm one of those curious types who likes to see how folks are living in other countries. :-)
