National Women's Day 9 August

2011 marks the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day. The day was commemorated for the first time on 19 March 1911 in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland, following its establishment during the Socialist International meeting the prior year. More than one million women and men attended rallies on that first commemoration.

Every year they have a theme and this years theme is “Working together to enhance women’s opportunities to economic empowerment”

Here are some of the things happening in South Africa on Women's Day :

Michael Bolton, Carnival City

Women in Motorsports

Women's Day Running Challenge

Mmumbatho Convention Centre Concert

Women's Day Talk at Stellenbosch Uni

Totalsports Womens Day Running Race, Johannesburg

Limpopo Women's Weekend Be a Woman of Substance, Hoedspruit

St Luke’s Hospice Women’s Day Brunch, Rondebosch

This kind of clears up something for me - up until he got his hair cut, I always wondered if Michael Bolton was a woman!! Conference looks fun! W.C.C.
